Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

absolutely unreal this got made. the animation blended with human actors and actual sets is unbelievable. it looks so, so good. the way animation interacts with real-world objects, including splashing water...so cool. the way the lighting from the sets comes alive in the animations, shadows and all, is just breathtaking. (noraa said they used animatronics for some of the scenes and then painted over them?) i can't even begin to imagine how they made this. on the technical merits, this deserves way more stars. (sorry, the story just didn't pull me in.) why on goddess' good green earth did disney loan them characters to make this? utterly hilarious mirror universe moment that's never gonna happen again. got me on a whole bunch of laughs, honestly. i was too high while i watched this to remember all the clever stuff i wanted to say about it. feels weird to give this the same rating as minions and monsters, but i don't wanna give minions three stars and i don't wanna give this four stars, sorry. the animation is unparalleled though and everyone should see this at least once, especially if animation is your thing.
