a review of

gotta be real, at parts i truly loved this. the first half...i felt enamored, full of glee. freaking perfect casting for the leads. unreal facial expressions and nuanced quirks. the characters were just really, really coming alive through these two acting performances. pretty cool editing and daydream sequences. great vibes. absolutely outrageous costumes. total high point for me. nice use of color. ok, i wanna say i don't entirely think this relationship was consensual (lol, it definitely was not consensual). i don't think the film presents it as such, it just feels important to state for the record since the vast majority of americans have no idea how consent works or what it actually looks like. like too many modern films, the director beats us over the head with the messages through the mid-end of the film. unfortunate, because prior to taking it too far, uncle greg was really dishing the satire and commentary in a gorgeous way. the end was fine enough. definitely a great film from a great director. p.s. justice for apple. p.p.s. so cool johnny knoxville doesn't even need makeup to pull off bad grandpa anymore.
