Alice Miller的一本代表作，我感觉她的理论是目前美国心理治疗主流方法的基石之一。其实这本书的目的根本不是叫人去一味责怪自己的父母，而是帮助读者意识到，只有正视不堪回首的童年创伤、重新体会那些被掩埋或不被允许表达的情绪并深切地哀悼，人才有可能贴近一个真实的自我、从心灵的牢笼中解脱出来。她对儿童心理的分析细致入微，对成年人空虚感的根源也有令人信服的解说，此外也颇有文采，文风是既雄辩又动人的那种。强烈建议国内出版社引进此书。
