关于 三千年的思念 的评论
Uh oh. Lots of notes and questions here.
Is this movie about slavery? Is it about being complicit, as a society and as people, in imperialism and colonialism? Is it about the stories we tell ourselves to absolve ourselves of responsibility? Is it about glazing over the violence of history with a sense of whitewashed longing for a safe version of the past? Is it about white women's role in upholding white supremacy? Is it about the west's poetic but false idea of the Middle East? Is it about a simpler time when racism was that people who say "ethnics" are the baddies?
Is it commentary on the types of social systems we design for ourselves that end up trapping us? Who invented the three wishes? Why do we adhere to them? Why do we stay in relationships we aren't happy in? Why do we long for adventure but live the mundane? Why do we dream but never follow through? What if we were free?
Is this movie about encroaching technology separating us from our deepest desires? Is it about technology preventing us from forming true connections? Is Djinn real or is this movie a retelling of Blade Runner, a sort of fantasy cyberpunk asking whether having the capacity to feel longing is what makes one human, with the three wishes being the tell?
Is this a story about how no story is true, or even that there is no truth, just the stories we tell each other? That if nothing is true, and everything can be embellished, then reality itself is just a collection of stories, and we can make anything real? So in essence, we hold the power of the wishes ourselves, and the narratologist is the real Djinn?

Fascinating.
