场所仍然是Lawrence擅长的东南亚，然而一如既往，他的小说总是觉得比游记散文缺那么一点儿什么，虽说从其实是比游记之上多了些戏剧和故事才对。不过这本相比之前看过的他另一本小说The Ballad of a Small Player要好得多，文字仍然是琐碎颓废，经常分不清是游记还是小说，但是里面的人物更生动和接地气。貌似他最新的一本小说仍然是以东南亚为场景的。感觉Lawrence最擅长的就是把游记随笔写的像小说而把异乡异客的小说写成游记。
