王家卫能把任何题材拍成他自己的路数，这是作者电影理论最看重的能力。其实片中到处充满了匠气，无处不在的高速摄影、精心设计的光照和烟雾（第一段暖色，第二段冷色，第三段偏白，全是侧光或侧逆光，散射为主）、长焦镜头和特写，技巧使用完全不节制。可是作为一个整体看，仍然构成了独特的魅力。

Ip Man's peaceful life in Foshan changes after Gong Yutian seeks an heir for his family in Southern China. Ip Man then meets Gong Er who challenges him for the sake of regaining her family's honor.
