伯格曼的黑白影像把明暗对比产生的效果发挥到极致，例如逆光、侧光，在寻常场景中产生异常的感觉。因为全片大部分是平和的叙事，长镜头用得很多，所以当实验性的影像和诡异的配乐突然出现时，产生了很震撼的惊悚感。
