In April of 2019, the 88-year-old Jean-Luc Godard revealed he was working on his next film, a yet-to-be-titled drama about a Yellow Vest woman who breaks up with her boyfriend, modeled after Racine’s Berenice. The project promises to mark Godard’s return to contemporaneous political topics as well as a form linear narrative, based on the ongoing Yellow Vest grassroots revolutionary political movement calling for economic justice, which began in October of 2018.

A famous French filmmaker (Jean-Luc Godard) is hired by a major Hollywood producer (László Szabó) to make a documentary on the state of post-Cold War Russia. This complex allegorical tale tells the story of man’s quest for spiritual meaning. When God enters the body of 1980s filmmaker Simon Donnadieu, his wife Rachel realizes that something has gone awry, but chooses to remain faithful to her erratically-behaving husband.

During a war in an imaginary country, unscrupulous soldiers recruit poor farmers with promises of an easy and happy life. Two of these farmers write to their wives of their exploits.

Jean-Luc Godard brings his firebrand political cinema to the UK, exploring the revolutionary signals in late '60s British society. Constructed as a montage of various disconnected political acts (in line with Godard's then appropriation of Soviet director Dziga Vertov's agitprop techniques), it combines a diverse range of footage, from students discussing The Beatles to the production line at the MG factory in Oxfordshire, burnished with onscreen political sloganeering.

Anticipation, ou l'Amour en l'an 2000 est un court métrage réalisé par Jean-Luc Godard en 1966 et est sorti en 1967. Il a été tourné en noir en blanc, à l'exception de la scène finale. A series of 41 documentary shorts, directed (without credit) by several famous French filmmakers and each running between two and four minutes. Each "tract" espouses a leftist political viewpoint through the filmed depiction of real-life events, including workers' strikes and the events of Paris in May '68.

In Godard and Gorin's free interpretation of the Chicago Eight trial, Judge Hoffman becomes Judge Himmler (who doodles notes on Playboy centerfolds), the Chicago Eight become microcosms of French revolutionary society, and Godard and Gorin play Lenin and Karl Rosa, respectively, discussing politics and how to show them through the cinema.

Here and Elsewhere takes its name from the contrasting footage it shows of the fedayeen and of a French family watching television at home. Originally shot by the Dziga Vertov Group as a film on Palestinian freedom fighters, Godard later reworked the material alongside Anne-Marie Miéville.
