The Angry Street includes a great deal of location shooting in the rebuilt city, including downtown streets, residential neighborhoods, the campus of the University of Tokyo, and the high life of jazzy dance halls. Sudo (Hara Yasumi) and Mori (Uno Jukichi) are two university students who make money by picking up rich girls in dance clubs and conning them into giving them cash. Mori is the brains of the operation, and Sudo is the suave dancer who picks up the girls. Over the course of the film, Sudo becomes involved with three different girls and is drawn into the gangster milieu, which he seems unable to resist even though he is responsible for his mother, grandmother, and sister, Masako (Wakayama Setsuko). In this world of bad boys and girls, Masako is the pillar of strength and moral virtue who finally enables Mori to straighten out.

夏子は人々が情熱を見失っている現代に愛想をつかし、函館の修道院へはいるために渡道した。彼女の母、祖母、伯母の三人は夏子の身を案じてあとを追って来た。青函連絡船のなかで、夏子は一人の青年と知り合った。彼は自分の恋人秋子を喰い殺した気狂熊を見つけて仇を打つ決心だった。夏子はそうした彼の情熱にひかれて、修道院入りをやめて毅の熊狩りに同道することになった。二人が訪ねた秋子の実家大牛田十造の家には不二子という秋子の妹がいて、毅が夏子を同道したことに大いに不満そうだった。やがて支笏湖畔に気狂熊が現われたという報に、毅、夏子、不二子、夏子の母、祖母、伯母までもが一緒になって出かけて行った。そして毅は見事に熊を仕とめて一躍熊狩りの英雄にまつりあげられた。そうして得意の毅から結婚を申込まれたが、夏子は急に彼に対する興味を失って、再び修道院へはいろうと決心した。しかし不二子は、毅が講演会に出たり、ポスターのモデルになったりするのは、秋子の墓を建てる金を得るためだったことを明かし、夏子の女らしい思やりのない我ままをののしった。夏子は不二子をのがれて外へとび出した出合いがしらに毅にぶつかった。瞬間みつめ合った毅の瞳にはかつて夏子の心をゆりうごかした深い情熱の光があった。夏子はそのまま毅の胸にとび込んで行くのだった。数日後函館から連絡船で去る毅、夏子たちの幸福そうな姿を見送る不二子の頬は涙でぬれていた。

Pu Zhe, the younger brother of the Emperor of Manchukuo, Pu Wen, marries Ryuko the daughter of a long-established aristocratic family – all in the interest of the Japanese rulers, which legitimizes the relationship between Japan and its Chinese puppet state. To the surprise of all , a deep love between Pu Zhe and Ryuko develops. It is put to the test when Japan loses the war, Manchukuo is dissolved and the imperial court must flee. The lovers now have to separate: Pu Zhe tries to escape to Japan with his brother, while Ryuko flees with her daughter Eisei over the country. A film on the relationship between Pujie (1907-94), brother of the “last emperor” Puyi and his second wife, Marquise Hiro Saga (1914-87).

SINCERE HEART (1953, aka MAGOKORO) was Masaki Kobayashi's second film as a director -- but as with his first, YOUTH OF THE SON, it is something of a hybrid work, influenced heavily by his longtime mentor Keisuke Kinoshita, who wrote the screenplay. The resulting film is a deeply passionate and sentimental drama about a young student (Akira Inshihama) who falls into a hopeless romantic attraction to an invalid girl (Keiko Awaji) whom he can only see from afar.

木下組の助監督を務めていた山田太一が、自身の経験を基に記したシリアスな内容の脚本を、木下惠介監督がコメディとして大幅にアレンジして発表した青春映画。４人の若者たちの交流とそれぞれの起伏に富んだ日常が、風刺の利いたタッチで軽やかに描かれていく。森役の松川勉は現役慶應ボーイで、これがデビュー作。学生運動や松竹ヌーヴェル・ヴァーグ真っ盛りのご時世に、こういったオーソドックスな青春喜劇を飄々と撮り上げてしまう木下監督の反骨ぶりがうかがえる。正月映画として制作されたこともあって、佐田啓二、岡田茉利子、田村高廣、牧紀子が特別出演している。

纪本花在二十二岁那一年嫁入了位于纪州的一个非常传统的家庭之中，她的丈夫虽然十分年轻，却已经身负村长的要职。一年后，纪本花顺利的怀孕了，生下了长子政一郎，遗憾的是，纪本花分娩的当天，丈夫正在为了大堤工程四处奔走，并未能够陪伴在她的身边。

Kyoko is the third daughter of the Nonomiya family, a very ordinary family. Momoko, the eldest daughter, is married to Ichiro, the president of Mihara Shoji, and Riko, the second daughter, is married to Jiro, the managing director, and they plot to marry Kyoko to Saburo, the third son of the Mihara family. Kyoko is angry at the marriage talk that is being pushed forward without her permission, and declares that she "definitely won't get married," but before she knows it, she begins to become aware of the other person...

Utsugi, a seventy-seven-year-old man of refined tastes who is recovering from a stroke, discovers that, while his body is decaying, his libido still rages on -- unwittingly sparked by the gentle, kindly attentions of his daughter-in-law Satsuko, a chic, flashy dancer with a shady past. Pitiful and ridiculous as he is, Utsugi is without a trace of self-pity, and his diary shines with self-effacing good humor.

After surviving the double suicide pact she made with her lover, a woman gives birth to their child.
