四年过去了，这个有三十三名女学生及七名男学生的英国文学系，即将迎来毕业。毕业典礼结束后，忘记东西的野坂，造访了美枝子的家。美枝子的母亲雪子，与田岛离婚后，在银座开了一家酒吧。那天夜里，野坂与喝得烂醉的美枝子，亲吻了一下，就告别了。
毕业后的野坂在电视台工作；立志当作家的美枝子则专心于创作；和子与浅沼在和子叔父矢崎经营的贸易公司上班，每天都很忙碌，小组却有了大麻烦。与浅沼同居的木村荣子怀了孕，浅沼隐瞒了婚姻，才进的公司，现在准备去美国留学，如果荣子怀孕的事传出去，那就会功亏一篑。公司派和子请野坂冒充新生儿的父亲。夜里，和子把野坂叫到家中。和子的妹妹、早熟的久美子，看出了他们之间的微妙感情。
在出版社工作的向井，推荐了美枝子的两部作品，应募文学新人奖。一天，在母亲的酒吧里，美枝子意外遇到了和子的叔父矢崎，他说病中的妻子信子很想见见雪子她们母女，这番话令美枝子大感意外，毕竟他们是不曾认识的人。
几天后，浅沼与荣子迎来了新的生命，在全部都是朋友参加的婚礼上，大家为荣子诞下一子而高兴。
美枝子应募的最品，顺利入围了新人奖。既开心又有些不安的美枝子，想将心中对野坂的感觉全部说出时，野坂突然宣布与和子立下了婚约。
日活酒店里召开的新人奖获奖仪式上，美枝子获得了新人奖，并用幽默地语言祝福了即将结婚的野坂与和子：“我并不想着要结婚什么的，但从很久以前，我就很想在野坂的身体上，拼命地咬上几口。祝你俩幸福”。坐席间，大家笑作一团，美枝子的眼中泛着泪水，像是闪烁着金色光芒的海洋。
