Famous singer Fanny Brice has divorced her first husband Nicky Arnstein. During the Great Depression she has trouble finding work as an artist, but meets Billy Rose, a newcomer who writes lyrics and owns a nightclub.

Conniving and duplicitous tramp Susan tries to have her older sister Molly killed so she can have Molly's hunky husband Jeff all to herself. Things go awry when hired assassin John bumps off Susan instead. But Susan's pesky evil spirit returns from the grave to haunt Molly and Jeff.

A director is filming on location in a house where seven murders were committed. The caretaker warns them not to mess with things they do not understand (the murders were occult related), but the director wants to be as authentic as possible and has his cast re-enact rituals that took place in the house thus summoning a ghoul from the nearby cemetery to bump the whole film crew off one by one.
