a review of 麦克法兰之再生侠3
I must say, though I still ranked it 5/5, this last season feels kinda incomplete. Now, don't get me wrong, I know they wanted to make more, I'm not talking about that. It's just the first 2 seasons had a sense of closure. The story would start and neatly wrap up with a hint that there's more to come. This time around the story cuts off right at the moment when the stakes are high and nothing is completely resolved. This is exacerbated by the somewhat different pacing. In my review of season 2, I mentioned that it was a more experimental season, with more focus on character development. This one is, on the contrary, very plot-heavy. A lot of stuff happens in a relatively short period of time. Especially the last two episodes, where there's a sudden shift from a somewhat slow/introspective show to a more mainstream series, similar to other superhero shows of the 90s. The quality of writing, animation and voice acting is still top-notch though. Every episode intrigues you with new ideas and alterations to the form. It is exciting to watch how the series evolves over time. It is really a shame they couldn't finish the series. It feels like there was gonna be some epic conclusion. They were gonna do a sequel in 2004, and I think I've read somewhere that it was gonna be 2 seasons long. I'm not sure if I did read it or it's just my imagination, but 2 more seasons would be just right. Sadly though, Spawn is still in his personal hell.
