Something in between Civilization and Crusader Kings

I like how each ruler’s personality, ambitions and relationships dictate the way the empire develops. It really adds a touch of humanity to everything and makes decisions carry weight.

Also, the fact that within your state you have different dynasties that control different cities, adding a bit more depth to internal politics and structure, and making cities feel more like living entities instead of everything being controlled by you personally.

The music and atmospheric sound effects are also great, much better than those in Paradox games, and closer to Civilization in quality.

One thing I don’t understand is why cities can only be settled in specified locations. The decision seems bizarre to me and single-handedly disqualifies this game from being a Civ competitor in my eyes. Still, I did have a lot of fun playing it and will probably return to it someday.
