This ad understands gaming better than most of the society. There is still a stigma to being a gamer, and video games are still looked at as merely a form of entertainment, even by so-called "intellectuals" and often within its own community. Corporations in charge often treat their own projects as mere products, forgetting the fact that the very reason they became rich is because they sold dreams to kids with big eyes and a sense of wonder in their hearts.
Video games are an art form. The only art form that allows the audience to become more than a participant of the piece, but rather an integral part of it. The difference with some of the interactive performance art installations is that video games make your real identity disappear as you take on a role within them. You're no longer part of this world while you're gaming. And anyone who knows that the subjective reality is the only reality, understands the significance of that.
Art is essentially an engagement with the world of ideas in the Platonic-idealist sense. Just like dreams or mystical practices, except art is the act of materializing those ideas so that you could share them with others. And what is a better way to share ideas than let another person completely immerse themselves in them? More than any other art form, video games engage with metaphysics. It's the most ontological art form because at its core lies the concept of being. Even the stupidest video game is still philosophical in a sense because it requires you to abandon who you are and ask who you could be or what it would be like to be someone else.
And I think this ad, more than anything else, encapsulates this. Normally ads are commercial crap designed to sell something, but this here transcends its nature. This is truly a work of art in every sense of the word.
