Fedi Hive Mind - AI Free Label
OK, we have a winner. For the last few days we've been discussing a label for creative content and code attested to be free of generative AI (see QP in second reply). Yesterday's poll showed a clear preference for the simplest of the four options.
Seems like what we need next is someone with actual graphics ability to take this rough concept and create usable graphics. If you are interested please read on to the first reply.

I’ve been testing a theory: many people who are high on #AI and #LLMs are just new to automation and don’t realize you can automate processes with simple programming, if/then conditions, and API calls with zero AI involved.
So far it’s been working!
Whenever I’ve been asked to make an AI flow or find a way to implement AI in our work with a client, I’ve returned back with an automation flow that uses 0 AI.
Things like “when a new document is added here, add a link to it in this spreadsheet and then create a task in our project management software assigned to X with label Y”.
And the people who were frothing at the mouth at how I must change my mind on AI have (so far) all responded with resounding enthusiasm and excitement.
They think it’s the same thing. They just don’t understand how much automation is possible without any generative tools.

He organizes "AI safety" talks in his garden in Heidelberg and the listeners get a free dinner. He says their money comes from "philanthropists".
At first I thought he was just someone who bought into the EA talks about "AI safety", so I warned him against EA, even told him "I think your heart is in the right place" but then it turned out he knew full well what cult he was in, so then I was rude and made fun of their prophet Yudkowsky and Sam Bankman Fried, and he ended up giggling nervously and self-soothing by caressing his fingers. Then he switched to chatting up students.
Honestly, I haven't been so creeped out by a cult since Opus Dei! They have money and can pull in uninformed people. Spread the word! Make it embarrassing to engage with EA!

In a way I hate to say it, but #AI was way easier and faster than hours spent searching the web, reading reddit and asking in forums. And I totally get why that is: I can't expect that everybody and there grandfather jumps to my help. And AI is borrowed knowledge.

YMMV, but if you use Microsoft Office and are concerned about its AI and use of private documents for AI training, I’ve happily used @libreoffice’s Writer for years, exchanging documents with Microsoft Office users.
It is available for Windows and macOS, as well as Linux.
You don’t have to uninstall Microsoft Office to try it - the two will run side by side just fine.
