Interesting:
Beeper is yet another convergent #MessagingApp, which claims to support Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google, Instagram, FB, Tumblr, X, LinkedIn, Discord, and Slack, with a #selfhosted option and often by connecting to native apps directly on your devices in order to forward messages to your other devices.
"You can use Beeper on all your devices—your messages sync seamlessly. Our apps are available on Android, iPhone, iPad, ChromeOS, macOS, Windows and Linux."
I got an ad for this when I opened Tumblr chat to reply to a friend today; turns out #Beeper is owned by #Automattic, just like Tumblr. this might be a red flag for some, but as much as I am skeptical of CEO Matt Mullenweg, I do believe he's pretty committed to open development paradigms, even if it's his bizarro world version of the idea.
Edit: also, it's built on top of Matrix 😬 so factor that in to your calculations, but presumably if it's just one server stack and one client app, they can make it not suck?
