all she needed was an onion, a bit of bread & a bottle of wine, but - in spite of her designation by leonard foujita as the life of montparnasse - she ended her glorious reign on the pavement in front of her flat, largely because of her penchant for drink & drugs. from precarious & painful beginnings, kiki carved a creative path through the jazz age as painter, singer, memoirist & muse.
