Cannot move from my knitting position, otherwise I will disturb the dog. (photo attached)

I've been decluttering the house. Somebody thought the bottom shelf of the bookcase was made for her. I added a towel for a little padding, and wasn't finished straightening it before Samantha "moved in." She likes the privacy of the doggy gate so I left it.

The next project? A custom pillow with a fleece cover. Even old black cats rule the house (especially when Halloween is approaching).

Samantha, the cat, is laying on the bottom shelf of the bookcase in the living room. I didn’t intend for it to be a kitty bed, but she was laying in front of the bookcase for two days like she expected it to turn into a bed. I finally got it!

A small, fluffy fawn-coloured Chihuahua sits among tall golden-green grasses on a hillside, wearing a bright red harness and leash. She gazes seriously off to the left with her ears perked. Behind her, the hillside drops into a dense forest of dark evergreens and patches of yellow autumn foliage beneath a brilliant blue sky. Warm late-day sunlight catches the dog and grasses, giving the scene a peaceful, adventurous feel.

I spent much too long #sewing that denim cushion to go on the bench by the window for Fen. She approves! Time well spent 💚

Hello everyone. After receiving the final estimate for Pixie's surgery and a long discussion, Melissa and I decided to set up a GoFundMe to help offset some of the veterinarian/surgeon bills. It's not something I do lightly, I hate asking for help. We'd like to raise half the expenses. If you can contribute we'd appreciate it, if you can't, I understand completely. Maybe a boost if you could?

No matter the outcome, Pixie will have surgery November 9th.

#DogsOfMastodon

An intimate, warmly lit portrait of a small, long-haired, golden Chihuahua reclining on a soft red blanket. She gazes directly at the camera with large, dark brown eyes, her oversized, feathered ears spread outward. Gentle sunlight illuminates the left side of her face and fluffy chest, while the right side falls into deep, velvety shadow. Her black nose and silver-white muzzle are sharply detailed against the softly blurred surroundings, giving the photograph a peaceful, contemplative quality.

Trying to explain to this one that her brother’s second breakfast is really just the second half of his first breakfast because he has a sensitive stomach.

She’s not convinced.

THE PUPS VETO
DAYLIGHT SAVING 💎

I stayed in bed until 5:30 (new time) this morning, thinking I was handling the first day of daylight saving time rather well.

Apparently I was the only one.

I started making tea and the kids' breakfast and generally rummaging around in the kitchen. Then Phryne appeared from her bed on the back veranda early; she was looking deeply unimpressed, so she parked herself beside her bowl in case civilisation had completely collapsed.

Bill, who never gets up at that hour, came out looking for me because I was clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then Pete woke up and couldn’t find Bill.

So by 6:30, one clock had changed, and the entire household's chain of command had broken down.

Humans call it Daylight Saving.

The dogs are treating it as a systems failure.
