We are making good progress with refactoring Instagram Import to support archives of any age.

The reason we had to temporarily disable it is because Instagram has been purposely changing the schema of exports to make it more difficult for us to process.

We are leveraging some clever techniques to determine the schema for every archive, and look forward to shipping this early next week!

"After a wave of coverage in outlets like Rolling Stone and posts circulating on social media, the bot accounts are just now being noticed, and the reaction is confusion, frustration, and anger."

Meta shut down internal research into the mental health effects of Facebook and Instagram after finding causal evidence that its products harmed users’ mental health, according to court filings. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/11/23/tech/meta-buried-social-media-harm/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #business #tech #meta #facebook #instagram #socialmedia #mentalhealth #us

#Pixelfed is getting talked about on TikTok as an alternative to #Instagram.

Almost every video about it has people in the comments saying "Why do I have to pick a server? What does that mean?"

Either people are just dumb beyond help, or we need to do better at onboarding people to the #fediverse.

Edit: I love the ideas and discussions this post is stirring up!

https://drive.proton.me/urls/BBMMMXR610#GbV3NuO3c5Pw
( basta clicar no botão "Baixar" )

Algumas orientações de como utilizar esse material:

1- Todas as imagens devem ser inseridas na postagem;

No WhatsApp, X e TikTok é melhor usar apenas as imagens.
Nome do arquivo: 'Em Defesa da Democracia.rtf';

Viva a Democracia! Democracia Sempre!

By popular demand, a single post to boost global switch day across multiple platforms on February 1st 2025.

For those who can no longer get behind Musk or Meta's new policies and feel like switching (e.g. from #Whatsapp to #Signal, from #Instagram to #Pixelfed or from #X to #Mastodon) I made you some graphics to use freely in communicating with your contacts.

Let’s lead by example 🙂

Meta is facing an AI copyright lawsuit in France brought by authors and publishers who are accusing the company of economic “parasitism.” Read more at @Techcrunch. #Meta #Instagram #Facebook #AI #Copyright #Tech #Technology https://flip.it/mSO6-8

There isn't much of a presence for #mutualaid that I've seen on #Mastodon

There are others who post their needs here, but there's not a sense of #community

On #Instagram, #Threads & #Bluesky, there's a network of people sharing and supporting for each other

There's a sense of community without it being assumed it's simply about funds being sent

Of course funds can't come from nowhere

But here is the problem with this platform...

"The new feature would likely be an unwelcome one for users who would rather keep comments AI-free on Instagram, especially those who believe their friends deserve genuine comments as opposed to AI slop."

New #zine alert ‼️ Inspired by @stefan’s zine about the #Fediverse. I’ve noticed that so many #artists only use #Instagram despite worries about how their #data and #artwork might be used without their consent. Maybe this can convince someone to try the Fediverse. #datasovereignty #MastoArt #socialmedia #mayke #fediart @zines

Following the success (sarcasm!) of my previous post "Battle of IMs", I decided it's time to write another post where I try to articulate in a technical but snarky way my view on the wonderful world of social media, and which one is best among the mainstream and non-mainstream ones. This is a long post, reviewing 14 different "socials".

We added our Vivaldi Social server to the Fediverse on November 15th 2022. We are still, I believe, the only browser company that is fully behind the Fediverse. It is something we are very proud of! The Fediverse is the natural alternative to Big Tech social media, just like, IMHO, Vivaldi is the natural alternative to Big Tech browsers.
