It needs but one foe to breed a war, not two, Master Warden, and those who have not swords can still die on them.

off the top of my head, my three favorite hashtags are #introduction #monsterdon and #caturday
#Monsterdon watched a 🎬 movie called "Frogs" from 1972 tonight and had to make it clear so no one would watch the wrong "Frogs" movie tonight.
The one we watched had a young Sam Elliot without a mustache who Scott Bakula looks a lot like when he was younger.
The other one is a sequel to a movie called "Frog".
Just a few days ago, @RickiTarr posted that the movie "Jaws" must have been the sequel to a movie called "Jaw". Frogs, Jaws, Frog, Frogs.

I love weird patterns.
This is my root post for this week's #Monsterdon !
If you're unfamiliar, this is a sort of federated MST3k where we watch movies together and make lots of snarky comments about them. You can watch along! (see #MonsterdonAlert for details, it's always a movie that's streaming free somewhere). If you don't want to see a high volume of snark tonight you can mute me, mute this thread (three dots menu on this post -> "Mute Conversation"), or mute the hashtag (in the Mastodon web UI this is Preferences -> Filters -> 'Add new filter').
This will be my root post for #monsterdon this evening!
(If you're not familiar: a bunch of us watch monster movies and toot along; watch with us! or if you don't want to see cosmic levels of snark, you can mute me, the hashtag, or this thread)
Tonight we're watching "Devil Girl From Mars (1954)". I watched the trailer, and here are my expectations for tonight's cinematic experience:
* This looks to have been filmed in the same country inn as previous #monsterdon fare "Stranger From Venus (1954)". Looking forward to future entries in the series featuring Some Dude from Saturn, the Uncle from Uranus, and Nobody from Neptune
* Clearly the real monster in this movie will be Sex and not like in an interesting way, in like a "boy aren't women temptresses to pure innocent fifties guys oh boy aren't those guys very pure despite all the actual evidence to the contrary"
* It bills itself as The Story That Might Yet Be True, so hey who knows let's grant Elon his wish and send him to Mars and he can tell us if there are any devil girls there
* I think I am going to fall in love with a robot
tonight! for #monsterdon's viewing of Invasion of the Bee Girls (1973) i'm planning on doing an owncast livestream of the movie again at https://miru.miyaku.media 🗼
⏰ pre-stream countdown with music from soundtrack starts at ~8:15pm eastern
🐝 Invasion of the Bee Girls (1973) starts at 9pm eastern (English audio with hardcoded English subtitles)
❗please have a backup option just-in-case

Hello all new people!
Welcome to the Fedi!
I bet you’ve been given the initial tips already but just in case, here goes:
1. Follow many people. That’s how you find interesting stuff. Here are a few:
@georgetakei @RickiTarr
@TheBreadmonkey
@the_etrain
@catsalad
@mekkaokereke
@futurebird
A few silly bots:
@SmudgeTheInsultCat
@RikerGoogling
Some art for you:
@Blahmage
And if you keep an eye out on introductions, there are so many new photography accounts right now, I couldn’t be happier.
Oh, the writers tend to live on wandering.shop. Here are a few.
@annaleen
@marthawells
@cstross
Check #FollowFriday for the hashtag for people’s recommendations. We’re still doing that, right guys?
2. Use hashtags to find topics you like.
#HashtagGames, where every day, we make ridiculous puns and it pleases us.
Or #Monsterdon, where we watch Monster movies every Sunday.
Anyways, happy tooting!
Root post for #Monsterdon: LASERBLAST!
(If you don't want to see me, and others, posting for two hours about kid from the 70s finding an alien laser, and, well, blasting, with it, mute the hashtag, this thread, or me)
The trailer for this movie seems to fit the title exactly: it mostly consists of Laser Blasts, plus a couple shots of E.T.-ripoff aliens[*] . However, I am suspicious: knowing the trailers for #Monsterdon -tier movies, I bet they put every single special effect that they could afford to film in the trailer, and the movie consists of 2 minutes of action and 83 minutes of characters I couldn't care less about saying things I don't want to hear.
So: go on this journey with me and let's find out together!
* Wait, this movie came out four years BEFORE E.T., which raises the fascinating possibility that Spielberg ripped of his alien design FROM THIS THING, HWAT?
