One year ago today I posted this practically shot Iron Giant photo I created using real figures, lighting, miniature sets & my trusty old tin foil for water technique & cotton wool for the splashes.

finished watching Salmokji: Whispering Water
Good atmosphere, which is crucial in a ghost story 👍, but I found the cryptic mindfucks more annoying than thought provoking 👎.

👍+👎 = meh.

mookie's #introduction / #reintroduction

it's me, hi. i'm the mookie, it's me (again).

i'm the father of two awesome kids. i love watching and talking about #movies. i'm a #gamer. i #run to eat. i'm a giant #starwars, #startrek, #predator, #alien and #tron nerd. i'm a born and raised #engineer.

i'm a serial #fediverse instance creator (and destroyer) and have been doing this since 2018.

my home is at https://ultramookie.com where i should be spending time writing.

will this be permanance?

Is there a term &/or hashtag for when you see a film (or something related to one) in another film? E.g. in a film, the characters are watching a film on TV, or they pass a marquee/sign for another film.

For now, I'll use #FilmInAFilm & post an example: large painted sign for Michael Dudikoff war flick Platoon Leader (1988) in the background of action-comedy 賭神 (God of Gamblers)(1989)

I'm super late for my biannual re-#introduction post... Whoops! 😅

Anyway, I'm slanderoid. I'm just some guy from a tiny #rural village in Midwest, USA. I came to #Mastodon after #Twitter turned into a medical waste dumpster fire back in 2022. I'm turning 40 in a week and I feel weird about it

I'm a #geek. (Or a #nerd, I'm not sure which.) I love #horror of all kinds. I used to play a lot of #VideoGames but not so much, lately. I'm more into #movies and #music at the moment. I love #books and I can often be found #reading something. My wife and I run a big #LittleFreeLibrary from our front lawn. We've got some big plans for it next year!

I recently launched a website full of my #writing over at https://notaherostory.com. #NotAHeroStory has been my dream for many years and it's cool that, after some hard work, time, and dedication, it finally exists! If you're into #fantasy, #comedy, #LitRPG, or #beer, you should check it out. It's 94% free!

If you're new here, welcome! 😄

wants to watch The Rage
Robin Hood, yeah? It's gotta be Robin Hood.

finished watching High Life 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Finally got around to this one. It was…distressing. I'm not mad I watched it. I think, maybe, I even liked it.

But it stressed me the fuck out.

Won't be watching again anytime soon, for sure 😅

finished watching Resident Evil
Fry does a great job as the protagonist. Fun horror comedy 👍

Pity that it's a franchise, it would have worked better if we didn't know how it has to end.

Between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay. Had a job on the movies and used to walk to work just before sunrise. I played an extra as a fisherman on a boat.
