Dracula's dead and his kids live in Brooklyn. This movie has Pixelvision, Peter Fonda, and music by My Bloody Valentine. David Lynch cameos as a hypnotized morgue attendant. Some of us were still not satisfied. We watched NADJA (1994, D. Michael Almereyda).

Did you know... we don't just work with films and filmmakers?
Journeys in Film started off more than 20 years ago creating educational guides for feature films.
Over time, we expanded in creating teaching materials for:
- Animated films (like Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet),
- Short films (like Golden Age Karate),
- Documentary series (like Genius, about Albert Einstein),
- Film + book combinations (like The Neighborhood Storyteller + Muzoon: A Syrian Refugee Speaks Out), and
- Educational games (like "Walden, a game" from USC Game Innovation Lab).
We are also looking at creating teaching resources for social impact podcasts in 2026!
Our name has stayed the same but we are all about modern cross-media education.
If you are creating social impact media that you would like to connect with teachers & students, we should talk!
Learn more about how we partner with creators. 👇

Susan is proud to present March's movie theme: March Through The Ages!
Join us on a journey to see five cinematic adaptations of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Red Shoes. From a towering triumph of British cinema to chilling Korean horror, every adaptation reshapes the story in fascinatingly different ways. We’ll watch them in release order, tracing how each era, and each creator, twists the tale as the years march on.
So follow @GrillChill and hit the notification bell, or follow #SusansCinemaStash to get notified when these go live! Susan and I hope to see you there~ 🥸

finished watching C.H.U.D.
C.H.U.D. stands for Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers... or does it?
This B movie is surprisingly watchable despite taking itself too seriously. Maybe it's the gritty urban setting, making it look like a 70s, socially conscious, cop drama... This gives it a patina of respectability, but then you have lightbulb-eyed rubber monsters straight from the 50s' cheapest sci-fi, which I respect but I understand that it's not a well respected film staple.
Look, it's a weird combo, and I like weird combos. Also John Goodman is on this for a few seconds, so I give this movie a heartfelt 👍. But I hope the sequel is sillier.
The first trailer for Heart of the Beast has arrived.
Starring Brad Pitt, the survival thriller follows a former Navy SEAL and his retired military dog as they battle the harsh Alaskan wilderness after a devastating plane crash. The film promises intense action, emotional moments, and a gripping fight for survival.
📅 Heart of the Beast hits theaters on September 25, 2026.
Will you be watching this on the big screen? 👇

finished watching Splinter
Stuck in a single location with a speculative biology monster, and the characters aren't the absolute tools you expect them to be. That's enough for me, I don't need it to be as good as Carpenter's The Thing.
+1 For featuring ferrofluids as a living, spiky menace, which apparently was a thing around 2010 (Jennifer's Body and John Dies at the End come to mind)
-1 For the shaky cam, but I understand they had to hide the low budget effects somehow
= 👍

The weekend is here! What do you plan to play or watch?
We have another full indie RPG livestreaming weekend for you all!
Offline we're watching The Substance and Fate Strange/Fake. We're playing Final Fantasy XIV, Marvel Rivals, and Ace Attorney 6.
Worked from home. Got distracted by a favorite movie. Decided to write about it in order to salvage my distraction. It's about the prescience of the movie Hackers and how we can still make the world better with the tools at our disposal.
Someone cornered, someone idolized, sometime in autumn, somewhere in space, deep in the jungle, at the altar, on the football field, down in Mexico, the world revolves as the naked apes devolve on another movie list.

In the 4 years I've been on Mastodon, I haven't seen many other filmmakers here. (I think I'm already following the maybe 3 that are actually here.) But if this post happens to reach any other filmmakers or screenwriters, I'd love to try and forge a film community on this platform. (I don't think there is an existing one? Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Film reviewers and movie fans are great too! 🎬

The weekend is here! What do you plan to play, watch, or do?
Our sole streamer is at Furrydelphia this weekend, so there won't be a livestream.
The rest of us are watching Spider-Man and playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.
Don't ask me why I felt compelled to try to reproduce the "Ipcress noise" from the The Ipcress File, 1965. It's not perfect — there was something that sounded like filter warble that, sadly, I wasn't able to replicate. Otherwise, I tried to be accurate.
I trust this will not be put to injurious use and I hereby disclaim all liability for damage caused by the misuse of the sound material here disseminated.
People there is now only one hour until #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party. Best get your hashtag filters sorted out if you want to avoid it.
If you'd like to join in, this week we're watching THE GUYVER (1991), an adaptation of an anime series with all-star cast deserving of all-star embarrassment. Come see Mark Hamill in six solid inches of foam rubber bug mask!
The flick's available free with ads over on Tubi: https://tubitv.com/movies/100029582/the-guyver
Or you can download from Archive.org over here: https://archive.org/details/the.-guyver.-1991.1080p.-blu-ray.x-265_202401
