Our crew at the observatory has CAPTURED THE ORION SPACECRAFT... despite the weather in #Toronto #canada ... the low position of #ArtemisII in the sky and having had to take the science ccd off for repairs.

Enjoy everyone, now you too can wave at the pixel of #jeremyhansen ! Video is up on the @AllanICarswellObservatory YouTubechannel! https://www.youtube.com/live/dT_ykVY1VaI?si=wDd_GQHUpdYP0-qy

A still from the Allan I Carswell Observatory 1m telescope showing the position of the Orion craft on the background stars as featured in the video link. There's an arrow annotated to point at it and text that says 'Orion Craft, Artemis II'

Two views from the Island of Hawaii this morning: (1) Mauna Loa's Southwest Rift Zone from the South Point area and (2) Mauna Loa's Summit and Northeast Rift Zone from Mauna Kea. Image credit USGS/USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. The view this morning of Mauna Loa's Southwest Rift Zone from the South Point area. Certainly, the cameras of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park are known for their dramatic images of exposed geology, lava lakes, cinder cones, and steaming thermal areas, but this site, lower in elevation and near to the coast, shows a gentle collection of wind-blown vegetation in colors of green and tan, lit by the morning sun (foreground). The middle ground includes a few man-made features such as power lines and structures, while the background shows the sweeping landforms of the island, all under an early morning blue sky. Thanks to the US Geological Survey for providing these beautiful images.
