Vader en kind poseren voor een geschilderde achtergrond in Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

#Mexico #EdvanderElsken #Mexican #Recollect #DíadelosMuertos #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-298-4-25

The image is a black and white photograph featuring two individuals, an adult male on the left side and a young child seated to his right. The man appears to be in mid-gesture with one hand raised as if pointing or emphasizing something; he wears a light-colored shirt adorned with patches, dark trousers, and has short hair.

The child is dressed in traditional Mexican attire, including a wide-brimmed hat known as "sombrero" often associated with Mariachi musicians. The child's outfit suggests they might be participating in some cultural event or celebration.

Behind them stands an ornate backdrop depicting various figures and motifs that suggest themes of history, religion, and culture, possibly referencing Mexico's heritage. Prominently displayed is a large emblematic figure above the word "Recollect," which seems to refer to religious imagery commonly seen during Mexican festivals like Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

The overall composition suggests this photograph was taken at an event celebrating or commemorating cultural traditions, with the individuals possibly playing roles in such festivities.

Mushroom Among Pine Needles

I’m not sure when I took this image of a mushroom. I almost deleted it, but then the details came into focus. There’s a lot happening in the scene, and if you look closely, you might even spot a snail.

By order of the Galactic Empire, your presence is commanded at my photo gallery:

#photo #photography #photographer #photographylove #nature #mushrooms

"This captivating image features a single mushroom nestled amidst its natural surroundings. The mushroom stands out against a backdrop of dry, brown pine needles, its presence both delicate and resilient. Its cap is broad and slightly domed, exhibiting a light brown hue with small white spots speckling its surface, creating an intricate pattern. The sturdy, white stem emerges confidently from the pine needle bed.

The natural setting is beautifully composed: the dry pine needles form a natural carpet around the mushroom, providing a supportive base for its growth. Meanwhile, green leaves from nearby plants encroach into the scene, adding a touch of vibrancy to the otherwise earth-toned setting.

In the bottom left corner, there’s an artistic watermark that reads “© Swede’s Photography.” This subtle addition adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the photograph, capturing the essence of nature’s quiet beauty." - Microsoft Copilot with edits

Dancing with the Clouds
September 21, 2026 - Midwest City, Oklahoma

The mid-afternoon heat churned up a lot of clouds, but generated no precipitation. It is more of a random dance than a weather event.

Handheld with the OM-5 Mark II and the M.Zuiko Digital 12-45mm F4.0 PRO at: 1/800 sec, f/8, ISO 400, 40mm.

In this black and white image, clouds bubble and churn as they tower up into the sky. The cloud-filled sky dominates the top two-thirds of the landscape. The lower third consists of short line of trees and bushes. One tree rises above the rest, like a patron watching a stage show.
