Green hills and little piggies : In the world of Michael Sowa

There is a small personal story in the first comment.

#throwbackthursday #landscape #rural #fields #spring #art #michaelsowa #photography

Photo of a green field in spring, with a patch of white snow hidden from the sun behind a small mound, bordered by the forest in the back, under a light blue sky. A plane with its white trail is in the sky. And no, there is no hidden pig in there.

1/ As #winter in the #mountains winds down, I am concluding my fifth year of #snowshoeing in the mountains. So many great memories, so much to reflect. I began doing serious snowshoeing in the mountains around the peak of the pandemic (winter 2020/2021) when I needed to get outside. (CONT) #MountainMonday #PhotoMonday

Photo of me standing on mountain summit holding a pair of snowshoes. A distant mountain peak is behind me with snow-covered trail leading to it along the ridge. Gray overcast skies.

This photo was taken by a passing hiker at the summit of Little Haystack Mountain, White Mountains, New Hampshire. The neighboring mountain is Mt. Lincoln. February 25, 2025.

Orchard

#Landscape #Photography

A lush green grassy path curves gently through the center of the frame, inviting the viewer to stroll along. The path is flanked by blooming pear trees on both sides, creating a tunnel of blossoms. The sky above is a clear, bright blue with a few scattered white clouds. The strong sunlight casts shadows from the trees and bushes onto the grassy path, adding depth to the scene.

Sunset at ‘t Bluk

#Landscape #Photography

A serene and expansive sandy landscape under a bright, late-day sun. The foreground is dominated by rolling sand dunes, their surfaces textured with countless footprints and subtle shadows. Scattered across the dunes are a few solitary trees and patches of low-lying vegetation. The sky above is a blend of pale blue and soft white clouds, streaked with wispy contrails from passing aircraft. The sun, positioned towards the right side of the frame, casts a warm glow over the scene.

Morning

#Landscape #Photography

A serene, misty sunrise over a narrow canal in a rural landscape. The overall color palette is dominated by warm, soft hues of gold, orange, and amber. The sun is bright in the upper right corner, casting a brilliant glow that diffuses through the atmosphere.

A layer of fog or mist hangs low over the fields, obscuring the distant line of trees and giving the scene an ethereal, tranquil quality. The water in the channel is perfectly still, creating a mirror-like reflection of the orange sky and the mist. The banks of the waterway are lined with grass and reeds, adding texture to the foreground.

a stitching of two images captured by the navigation camera of the Mars rover Perseverance, showing, from left to right, the slopes of the rim of Jezero crater, that the rover is currently ascending, the distant wall of the crater rim itself, with a mountain showing up in the background, and the floor of the crater, including its fan-shaped delta region. The Pico Turquino hills can also be spotted in the lower right hand side corner of the picture.
