A modern building with two storeys of metal-framed windows. Translucent, solid-colour graphics with multiple cutouts have been applied to a horizontal strip of windows near the ground floor. The blue sky with wispy clouds is reflected in the upper windows. Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, UK. Photo by Gearóid Burke.

Autumn is here, cooler nights, shorter days. Soon the Vancouver Island marmot will go into hibernation. This adult marmot was enjoying the last days of summer. Photo taken a few years ago.

A brown marmot with a white spot on its forehead, chest and around its nose rests on a big grey boulder. The marmot looks at the photographer. To its right there are some short plants on the boulder that are in their autumn foliage: orange and red. A forest in the background is out of focus.

Boer met twee paarden en een muilezel, in Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

The image is a black and white photograph depicting an outdoor rural scene. It features two horses, each adorned with saddles or blankets on their backs, standing near the ground. One horse has a more prominent presence in the foreground while the other stands further back to its right.

There are three individuals visible: one person walking towards the camera wearing light-colored clothing and another individual mounted on the foremost horse's saddle. The third figure is partially obscured by plants but seems to be interacting with or tending to these animals.

The background includes a variety of vegetation, such as agave plants and tall trees silhouetted against a darkening sky that suggests either dawn or dusk. Rocks are scattered across what appears to be an open field or clearing. The overall atmosphere conveys a sense of everyday rural life with individuals engaged in work related to the horses.

There is no direct indication of movement, but the posture and orientation suggest activity around these animals.

I can’t recommend this app enough. Brings me delight every day to easily go through all the photos taken on a given day, grouped by most recent to oldest year.

It’s fun to see images on various iOS widgets, revisit old memories, easily share a copy to others, delete and prune the accumulated junk from the day (looking at you, screenshots and Costco product pics).

Do yourselves a favor and download now. ★★★★★
