I did the thing! At SLO (a crew change stop) I managed to grab some dairy-free ice cream and get back on the train. Also went up on the bridge over the tracks for views.

A smiling bearded man with brown hair holds a cup of chocolate ice cream from Splendor, with a double decker train behind.

View out a train window past a tree of a parking lot and across it a two story building: this is the ice cream shop seen from the train.

View from above of same building and other buildings with a roundabout in the foreground.

View from above of the back of a stopped Amtrak train. On the far side of the tracks are a few houses giving way to grassy scrubby hills.
