Wood Cauliflower Fungus (Sparassis crispa).
I took this photograph in my garden 4 years ago. It was growing at the base of a mature Scots Pine, which has since died and come down. Although the tree stump is still there, the Wood Cauliflower has not reappeared. Like many tree fungi, Wood Cauliflower is parasitic and eventually kills its host.
The plus side is that Wood Cauliflower is edible when cooked. Smells cheesy, tastes nutty!😋
