release date 1977-09-01 publisher: Sony
She´s Always a Woman to Me"中的祸水红颜,抑或是"Scenes From an Italian Restaurant"中被诅咒的长岛的贫贱夫妻Brenda与Eddie,都见证了他的这份博大的关怀。与此同时,他以一首格莱美奖得主歌曲"Just the Way You Are"(为其第一任妻子兼经纪人伊利莎白而作)登入流行榜,这首歌也成为了婚礼乐队的常演曲

★ 8.2 (23 ratings) St. Vincent genre: Rock
release date 2011-09-13 publisher: 4AD
St. Vincent, the nom-de-stage of "playful chanteuse [and] fearsome shredder" (NY Times) Annie Clark, releases her second album for 4AD, Strange Mercy. The record's 11 tracks showcase Clark's gift for fusing the cerebral and the visceral, her melodically elegant arrangements packing hefty emotional punches. Clark reunited with producer John Congleton and recorded the album in her hometown of Dallas, TX. Strange Mercy finds St. Vincent redefining the idea of the guitar hero, utilizing the instrument as a pointillist artist might wield a brush.
Marry Me Douban
★ 8.0 (26 ratings) St. Vincent genre: Folk
release date 2007-07-10 publisher: Beggars Banquet Us
St. Vincent is the moniker of singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Annie Clark and this is her debut full-length. She's opened for such diverse acts as Television, Jose Gonzalez, and Sufjan Stevens, and she's an inventive and versatile guitarist who has also performed with avant-garde composer Glenn Branca. On this record, she writes cinematic pop epics that feel at times like Paris in the 20s before all the fun ended. Or, conversely, an orchestra of pure modernity - a new American music, informed by jazz, gospel blues, Southern folk music, and classical composition but, in the end, an animal original unto itself. She's been compared to everyone from Bjork to Kate Bush to Jeff Buckley, and her beautiful voice melds perfectly with her intricate guitar work.

★ 7.6 (14 ratings) St. Vincent genre: Pop
release date 2009-05-05 publisher: 4ad Records
Almost two years after the release of Marry Me, St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, is back with her sophomore album this May: It's called Actor and she co-produced it with the pAper chAse's John Congleton (Modest Mouse, Thermals, Smog, Polyphonic Spree, etc). Clark wrote/arranged the 11 songs and sings, plays guitar, bass, and keys, but brought on some additional players like Hideaki Aomori (Sufjan Stevens), Alex Sopp (Björk, Phillip Glass), and increased the rhythm section with Midlake's McKenzie Smith and Paul Alexander. There's also French horn, violin, sarongi, bass, and percussion. Still, really, she's front and center, which is why the cover art makes sense. It also carries on the tradition of Marry Me and confirms something Amrit said to me earlier today: "She loves closeups of her face." Yes she does. I guess she's assuming you do, too.

"Pay Your Way In Pain" is the first single ahead of St. Vincent's highly anticipated new album Daddy's Home, produced by pop producer and long term collaborator Jack Antonoff. "I was inspired by the classic records of the 70s. Stevie, Sly, Stones, Steely Dan, Chords, Groove. The days when sophisticated harmony and rhythm didn't sound heady - they just sounded, and felt good. Lots of guitar. But warm sounds, not distortion and chaos. Hopefully a turn nobody will see coming" - Annie Clark.

Few artists have done more for carrying the banner of guitar rock proudly into the 21st century than St. Vincent. A notorious shredder, she cut her teeth as a member of Sufjan Stevens’ touring band before releasing her debut album Marry Me in 2007. Since then, her reputation as a six-string samurai has been cemented in the wake of a run of critically acclaimed albums and collaborations (she co-wrote Taylor Swift’s No 1. single “Cruel Summer”).

A shape-shifter of the highest order, St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, has always put visual language on equal footing with her sonic output. Most recently, she released 2021’s Daddy’s Home, a conceptual period piece that pulled inspiration from ’70s soul and glam set in New York City. That project marked the end of an era visually—gone are the bleach-blonde wigs and oversized Times Square-ready trench coats—as well as creatively. With All Born Screaming, she bids adieu to frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, who produced Daddy’s Home, and instead steps behind the boards for the first time to produce the project herself.

“For me, this record was spending a lot of time alone in my studio, trying to find a new language for myself,” Clark tells Apple Music’s Hanuman Welch. “I co-produced all my other records, but this one was very much my fingerprints on every single thing. And a lot of the impetus of the record was like, ‘Okay: I'm in the studio and everything has to start with chaos.’”

For Clark, harnessing that chaos began by distilling the elemental components of what makes her sound like, well, her. Guitar players, in many respects, are some of the last musicians defined by the analog. Pedal boards, guitar strings, and pass-throughs are all manipulated to create a specific tone. It’s tactile, specialized, and at times, yes, chaotic.

“What I mean by chaos,” Clark says, “is electricity actually moving through circuitry. Whether it's modular synths or drum machines, just playing with sound in a way that was harnessing chaos. I've got six seconds of this three-hour jam, but that six seconds is lightning in a bottle and so exciting, and truly something that could only have happened once and only happened in a very tactile way. And then I wrote entire songs around that.”

Those songs cover the spectrum from sludgy, teeth-vibrating offerings like “Flea” all the way to the lush album cut (and ode to late electronic producer SOPHIE) “Sweetest Fruit.” Clark relished in balancing these light and dark sounds and sentiments—and she didn’t do so alone. “I got to explore and play and paint,” she says. “And I also luckily had just great friends who came in to play on the record and brought their amazing energy to it.” All Born Screaming features appearances from Dave Grohl, Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa, and Welsh artist Cate Le Bon, among others.

Le Bon pulled double duty on the album by performing on the title track as well as offering clarity for some of the murkier production moments. “I was finding myself a little bit in the weeds, as everyone who self-produces does,” Clark says. “And so I just called Cate and was like, ‘I need you to just come hold my hand for a second.’ She came in and was a very stabilizing force, I think, at a time in the making of the record when I needed someone to sort of hold my hand and pat my head and give me a beer, like, ‘It's going to be okay.’”

With All Born Screaming, Clark manages to capture the bloody nature of the human experience—including the uncertainty and every lightning-in-a-bottle moment—but still manages to make it hum along like a Saturday morning cartoon. “The album, to me, is a bit of a season in hell,” she says. “You are a little bit walking on your knees through some broken glass—but in a fun way, kids. We end with this sort of, ‘Yes, life is difficult, but it's so worth living and we've got to live it. Can't go over it, can't go under it, might as well go through it.’ It's black and white and the colors of a fire. That, to me, is sonically what the record is.”

Love This Giant is a studio album made in collaboration between David Byrne and St. Vincent, released on 4AD and Todo Mundo on September 10, 2012, in the United Kingdom and a day later in the United States. Byrne and Annie Clark of St. Vincent began working together in late 2009,[1] using a writing and promotion process that Byrne had previously used on his 2008 collaboration with Brian Eno Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.[2] The duo had previously played together live at a St. Vincent show and on the album Here Lies Love.[3] The performers enlisted a variety of brass musicians to augment their songwriting and toured over the following year to promote the album.

Captivating, ethereal and majestic, Mammal Hands unleash their third album, Shadow Work: drawing on spiritual jazz, north Indian, folk and classical music to create something inimitably their own. Recorded at 80 Hertz Studios in Manchester, it is the result of 18 months of intensive touring and mammoth writing sessions. The energy from their exhilarating live performances has fed into the writing process and yet there is a quiet reflective side to this album, giving it an expanded emotional range that draws the listener deep into Mammal Hand’s sound world.

Arca Douban
★ 8.3 (48 ratings) Arca genre: Electronic
release date 2017-04-07 publisher: XL Recordings
On the 7th of April, Arca will release his third full-length album. Available via XL Recordings, the self-titled record is the first to feature the Venezuela-born, London-based producer’s untreated singing voice. He sings in Spanish – the language of his childhood home, Caracus. It stands as a defiant, delicate statement of intent, and cements his position as one of this turbulent decade’s defining musicians.
Previous work has incorporated snatches of song and Arca’s rapping, but on Arca, his voice is front-and-centre on eight of the album’s 13 tracks. Frequently, he has used his first-takes, untreated and without post-production: clicks of saliva and burrs of the throat carry melodies of staggering richness and delicacy.
His masterful production knits together vocal tracks like “Sin Rumbo” and first single “Anoche” with instrumentals like “Whip” and “Urchin”, each as extreme as the other. Across the album, the tectonics of pure digital sound, his own piano playing and voice combine, weaving the album together like folds of skin, or wounds healing post-trauma.
Arca has made some of most brazenly forward-thinking music of recent years, both on his previous solo albums Xen (2014) and Mutant (2015), and in collaboration with fellow futurists Björk (Vulnicura), Kanye West (Yeezus), and fashion collective Hood By Air.
Arca represents a stunning step forward in his celebrated catalog, one that will excite his long time fans and find him many new ones.
The album features stunning artwork from long time Arca visual collaborator Jesse Kanda and is available on CD, single vinyl LP with gatefold sleeve with three 24”x12” prints & printed inner sleeve.
‘Piel’, the first song to be released from the album, was met with widespread acclaim. Pitchfork stated “The first taste of Arca does more than subvert the expectations we have of Ghersi, it annihilates them” while i-D described Arca’s music as “pure, fragile and sincere, full of wounded experimental, electronic majesty”.
Following Piel, came Anoche, the second song and first video, again in collaboration with Jesse Kanda.
Major press is forthcoming from The FADER (Cover), New York Times, Dazed & Confused (Cover), i-D (Cover), Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Slate, Spin, Vice and more.
“Here’s my voice and all my guts: feel free to judge it. It’s like a bullfight: you’re watching emotional violence for pleasure. So this is a character who, almost as a mockery of the transaction, goes uncomfortably deep, into self-mutilation. ‘You want gore? Here’s gore’” – Arca on Arca
“Intelligent, impassioned and inspired by integrity, Arca’s continued growth as an artist promises to be one of the most exciting journeys of the coming years. The musician has no plans to stop either, telling us in no uncertain terms: ‘I want to make music until I die.’” – Dazed
“Arca was making body music for the active mind.” – New York Times

Ask Mitski Miyawaki about happiness and she'll warn you: "Happiness fucks you." It's a lesson that's been writ large into the New Yorker's gritty, outsider-indie for years, but never so powerfully as on her newest album, 'Puberty 2'. "Happiness is up, sadness is down, but one's almost more destructive than the other," she says. "When you realise you can't have one without the other, it's possible to spend periods of happiness just waiting for that other wave." On 'Puberty 2', that tension is palpable: a both beautiful and brutal romantic hinterland, in which one of America's new voices hits a brave new stride.

(What's the best you've got?/I forgot all my common sense/I need all the common sense/Time to start the clock from the top),轻盈的编曲为她抽象的歌词注入深意。《Imaginal Disk》一面揭开未来世界的斑斓绚丽,一面提示了潜在的危机与恐惧,但对 Magdalena Bay 来说,最重要的或许是:纵使世界笼罩于危机之下,我们也别忘记跳舞。
