So Resident Evil fans think theyโre pissed now because Cregger came up with his own original protagonist and plot for this? Heh, just wait until they find out the movie is a straight-up comedy! Seriously, even with the buckets of blood everywhere and monsters running amok, I struggle to think of this as โhorrorโ at all. He might genuinely just be making fun of the games here, as things reach borderline spoof levels of silly. It can naturally be a bit much as a result, but thereโs so much energy thanks to the 1.5hr runtime (under 2hr films FTW!), Austin Abramsโ hilarious performance, and the terrific directing that I had a blast regardless. Still, might want to skip this if youโre looking faithful, respectful adaptation of the source material. This is more for the people simply interested in a wacky good time and who maybe find video games stupid as well.
