本作は、石川・金沢21世紀美術館やフランスのルーヴル美術館ランス別館などを手がけ、プリツカー賞の受賞歴もある建築家・妹島和世を追った映画。妹島が大阪・大阪芸術大学アートサイエンス学科の新校舎を設計、建築していく様子を、3年6カ月にわたり記録している。アートサイエンス学科とは、アートとサイエンスとテクノロジーを連携させて研究と教育を行う学科。その新校舎に、妹島は「誰もが立ち寄れる見晴らしのよい丘の上の“公園のような建物”」というテーマを込めた。監督と撮影を担当したのは、妹島建築を1990年代から記録してきた写真家のホンマタカシ。ポスターデザインは、グラフィックデザイナーの長嶋りかこが手がけた。
