A sequel that did not need to exist, but luckily captures the essence of the original. It feels a little meaner, and is unfortunately longer (I think there are at least 10 minutes worth of material here that could meet an ax), but I still enjoyed the ride.

The feel-good summer blockbuster arrived early this year.
Gosling plays himself and he's great at it.
Felt a little long (because it is a little long), but it's never boring.
Glad I saw it nice and big and loud.
Yeah, I cried! That's what you do at a movie like this.

Good lore told with great music, but it felt like 2 hours went by when it's only 96 minutes, so something was off for me here.
A nonetheless enjoyable experience, and - yeah! - I would watch a sequel.

A timeless and universal story, both strange and familiar, from meticulously crafted puppets and miniature sets. The film uses a hybrid technique of frame-by-frame animation, live-action and CGI to achieve a depth of emotion and expressiveness unseen in a puppet-based medium.
