I ask no favors for my sex… All I ask of our brethren is that they will take their feet from off our necks. —Sarah Moore Grimké, activist for women’s suffrage, 1837 As the United States Supreme Court leans increasingly to the right, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s vigorous dissenting opinions and ferocious 20-push-up workouts have earned this tiny, soft-spoken, intellectual giant the status of rock star and the title “Notorious RBG.” What many don’t know is Ginsburg’s strategic, trailblazing role in defining gender-discrimination law. Intent on systematically releasing women from second-class status, she argued six pivotal gender-bias cases in the 1970s before an all-male Supreme Court blind to sexism. Now 84, and still inspired by the lawyers who defended free speech during the Red Scare, Ginsburg refuses to relinquish her passionate duty, steadily fighting for equal rights for all citizens under the law. Through intimate interviews and unprecedented access to Ginsburg’s life outside the court, RBG tells the electric story of Ginsburg’s consuming love affairs with both the Constitution and her beloved husband Marty—and of a life’s work that led her to become an icon of justice in the highest court in the land.

The kings of Italian cuisine Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo return to Italy together to remember their own pasts and discover how the culinary capital of the world is changing the way it cooks and eats. Travelling to different Italian regions, they uncover a changed Italy in some areas and a fiercely traditional, mostly untouched world in others. In each of the four hour-long episodes, Carluccio and Contaldo will create dishes using recipes, ingredients and influences they discover along their gastronomic journey as well as some of their own favourite traditional meals. The journey is distinctly personal, drawing upon Antonio and Gennaro’s upbringing in Italy through their memories and anecdotes, whilst reflecting their sometimes fractious, often hilarious relationship.

Prophets of Science Fiction is an American documentary television series produced and hosted by Ridley Scott for the Science Channel. The program premiered on November 9, 2011. The series covers the life and work of leading science fiction authors of the last couple of centuries. It depicts how they predicted and, accordingly, influenced the development of scientific advancements by inspiring many readers to assist in transforming those futuristic visions into everyday reality. The stories are told through film clips, reenactments, illustrations and interviews. The first episode received mixed reviews. Commentators appreciated the approach of combining coverage of contemporary scientific research and biographical exposition, but criticized the series as "light on the substance and heavy on the exaggeration". The series' attempts to link Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to developments such as organ transplants, supercomputers and DNA research were described by one critic as far-fetched but by another as successful. The series' first season consists of 8 one-hour episodes which aired on the Science Channel in November 2011 and February 2012. 1 Mary Shelley 9 November 2011 2 Philip K. Dick 16 November 2011 3 H.
