Jocelyne Saab, a young Lebanese journalist and director, interviews the director and the film crew while filming Nahla in Beirut.

When Valérie Giscard d'Estaing ran for President of France in the 1974 elections, he asked Raymond Depardon, who was a press photographer at the time, to film his campaign. Giscard d'Estaing financed the film, and although he was very satisfied with the result, he opposed its distribution for many years because he’d conceived it as an archive document. In 2002 he agreed to Depardon’s first feature documentary being shown on the ARTE television channel and in theaters.

Portrait of a woman, Jocelyne Khoueiry, who, in 1976 during the Lebanese civil war, was the muse of the Phalangist militia in Beirut. Fifteen years later, stricken with remorse, she became a nun and founded a religious order.

Portrait of a French mercenary working in Libya, hired by the Phalange to train the militias. War leaves its traces; and for some, who see death as part of the job, it’s a vocation.

A few months after the incident of April 13, 1975, during which Palestinian civilians were machine-gunned by Phalangist militiamen, the toll is most tragic: six thousand dead, twenty thousand wounded, incessant kidnappings, a semi-destroyed capital. This film traces the origins of the Lebanese conflict, the perception of a society that goes to war while singing. A unique document on the Lebanese civil war. Beyond the religious war, the painting of a social and political reality that has not changed much, more than four decades later.

Man on the Run begins with Paul McCartney navigating the aftermath of the break-up of The Beatles, facing down myriad challenges while creating new music that would ultimately become the defining soundtrack of a new decade… The documentary chronicles the arc of Paul’s peerless solo career: From the one-man-band lo-fi recording prototype of his self-titled solo debut, to the pastoral bliss of RAM, to the formation of Wings and its classic albums including Band On The Run, Venus And Mars, At The Speed Of Sound, Wings Over America, London Town and more. The result is an intimate and personal behind the scenes account of how Paul progressed from The Beatles’ 1966 retirement from live concerts to the Wings tours that would set the standard for 1970s arena rock shows. It’s a unique and in-depth look into a crucial period in the singular life of one of history’s most important recording artists, songwriters and performers.

The documentary is about the ceremony dedicated by American people to John Lennon after his murder. The 10 minutes of silence in New York's Central Park allows a deep observation of the particularly immobile people.

This documentary is an autobiography based on director Depardon's voice, his face and pictures from his childhood which are all mixed together on screen and contrasted with selected pictures he shot between 1957 and 1977 and now comments on.
