As reported, the curiously-named supergroup made up of Damon Albarn, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, and Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen are readying an album. The long awaited release of the Brian Wilson and Beach Boys masterpiece, Smile Sessions. With the full participation of original Beach Boys Al Jardine, Mike Love, and Brian Wilson, Capitol/EMI has, for the first time, collected and compiled the band's legendary 1966-'67 sessions for the never-completed SMiLE album. Rolling Stone magazine recently called SMiLE the most famous unfinished album in rock & roll history." In several sessions between the summer of 1966 and early 1967, The Beach Boys recorded a bounty of songs and drafts for an album, SMiLE, that was intended to follow the band's 1966 album, Pet Sounds. The master tapes were ultimately shelved, and The Beach Boys' SMiLE has never been released. Drawn from the original masters, SMiLE Sessions presents an in-depth overview of The Beach Boys' recording sessions for the enigmatic album, which has achieved legendary,mythical status for music fans around the world. SMiLE Sessions' physical and digital configurations include an assembled collection of core session tracks, while the box set delves much deeper into the sessions, adding early song drafts, alternate takes, instrumental and vocals-only mixes, and studio chatter. SMiLE Sessions invites the listener into the studio to experience the album's creation, with producer, singer and bassist Brian Wilson's vision leading the way as he guides his fellow Beach Boys, singer Mike Love, drummer Dennis Wilson, lead guitarist Carl Wilson, rhythm guitarist Al Jardine, and newest member Bruce Johnston (who'd replaced Brian Wilson in the touring group during 1965), through the legendary sessions. Artwork for all of the SMiLE Sessions' physical and digital configurations has been created with and inspired by Beat-Pop artist Frank Holmes' original 1967 LP sleeve art and booklet designs intended for the SMiLE album.

Early Takes: Volume 1 is a pivotal companion piece to Martin Scorsese’s critically acclaimed documentary on the life of George Harrison, Living In The Material World. The album features a wealth of previously unreleased recordings from Harrison, including early takes of "I’d Have You Anytime" and "Awaiting On You All", plus unheard demo versions of "Behind That Locked Door", "All Things Must Pass", "Run of the Mill" and "My Sweet Lord"; all later featured on Harrison’s 1970 chart-topping album All Things Must Pass. Other unreleased tracks include demos of "The Light That Has Lighted the World", "Let It Be Me", Bob Dylan’s "Mama You’ve Been on My Mind", and an early take of "Woman Don’t You Cry For Me". The collection is presented in digipack packaging and was produced by Giles Martin, engineered by Paul Hicks, mastered by Steve Rooke at Abbey Road Studios, and executive produced by Olivia Harrison. Sleeve notes are by producer Giles Martin.

The King of Limbs is the eighth studio album by English alternative rock band Radiohead, produced by Nigel Godrich. It will be released on 19 February 2011 as a download in MP3 and WAV formats, followed by a physical CD release in the UK on 28 March [1] and a special "newspaper" edition on 9 May 2011.[2] The "newspaper" edition will contain "two clear 10-inch vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve, many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork, a compact disc, and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradable plastic to hold it all together".[3] The album was announced on Radiohead's website on 14 February 2011, five days before release.[4] The name of the album possibly refers to an oak tree in Wiltshire's Savernake Forest, thought to be 1,000 years old.[4] The tree is a pollarded oak, referring to an ancient technique for harvesting timber for fencing and firewood. Though it does not feature on maps, the tree is said to be 3 miles (4.8 km) from Tottenham Court House, where Radiohead recorded part of their previous album In Rainbows.[5]

PJ Harvey's eighth album, Let England Shake, comes out February 14 via Island, according to her site. The LP was recorded in an old Dorset, England church with producer Flood and longstanding Harvey collaborators John Parish and Mick Harvey, who will feature in her live band along with drummer Jean-Marc Butty.
