Neil Young puts it best: “This album is the unheard bridge between Harvest and Comes a Time”. Recorded between June 1974 and January 1975, Homegrown was intended to come out in 1975 before Neil cancelled the release. The album has remained unreleased until now, achieving a legendary status among Neil Young fans in the process. The album is made up of twelve Neil Young songs, of which seven are previously unreleased - “Separate Ways,” “Try,” “Mexico,” “Kansas,” We Don’t Smoke It No More,” “Vacancy” and “Florida” (a spoken word narration). Also included are the first recordings of “Love Is A Rose,” “Homegrown,” “White Line, “Little Wing,” and “Star Of Bethlehem” – different versions of which would all later appear on other Neil Young albums. Neil plays solo on some tracks (guitar, piano and harmonica), and is joined by a band of friends on other tracks, including Levon Helm, Ben Keith, Karl T Himmel, Tim Drummond, Emmylou Harris and Robbie Robertson. Recorded in analog, and mastered from the original master tapes, this long-lost album is a wonderful addition to Neil’s incomparable catalog.

"Colorado" is the first new Neil Young with Crazy Horse album since 2012's "Psychedelic Pill". The album will be released on October 25th and features 10 new Neil Young compositions. It includes several songs that Neil has been playing live in the past few months (eg: "Rainbow of Colors", "Green Is Blue" and "Milky Way"), and the epic 13+ minute track "She Showed Me Love". The vinyl version of the album comes with a bonus 7" single, featuring an album outtake "Truth Kills". The 7” also includes a live, solo version of "Rainbow of Colors" from Portland, OR, on May 17, 2019 - the first time Neil ever performed this song live. This incarnation of Crazy Horse is Neil Young on vocals, guitar, piano, harmonica and vibes, Billy Talbot on bass, Ralph Molina on drums and features the return of Nils Lofgren on guitar and piano, almost 50 years since he last appeared on a Crazy Horse album (1971). The album is produced by Neil Young and John Hanlon and was recorded in Colorado in April & May 2019.

The next chapter of Neil Young’s ongoing archival series will spotlight a concert he played with the Stray Gators at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on February 5th, 1975. Titled simply TUSCALOOSA, it will come out June 7th on a single CD and a three-sided vinyl album with etched artwork on side four. “It’s from the period right around Harvest and Tonight’s the Night,” Young told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “For me, it’s edgy. It’s like those mellow songs with an edge. It’s really trippy to be down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and singing those songs from Harvest and the songs that we were doing for Time Fades Away before it came out. I found this thing and it had such a great attitude to it. I just loved the whole night, so I put that together with [engineer] John Hanlon.”

Neil Young announced his plan to release Songs for Judy, a live album drawn from his November 1976 U.S. tour. The 22-song LP includes solo acoustic performances of all-time classics like “Heart of Gold,” “After the Gold Rush” and “The Needle and the Damage Done,” along with a number of rarer selections, including one song, “No One Seems to Know,” that has not appeared on any previous official release. Young spent the majority of 1976 on the road with Crazy Horse or on the ill-fated Stills-Young Band tour, which he famously dropped out of midway through that summer. He also found time to make Hitchhiker, the lost solo acoustic studio album that he recorded in August 1976 — three months before the shows documented on Songs for Judy — but kept in the vault until last fall. At the November 1976 shows featured on Songs for Judy, Young performed a solo acoustic opening set before returning to the stage for a harder-rocking performance with Crazy Horse. These shows have been widely praised and discussed by Young fans for years, but this is their first official release.

“It was the last night of his 1971 solo tour, and Neil Young walked onto the stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion unaware that the mic of “Jerry Rigged” would capture the entirety of this sublime solo performance. As a result, bootleg LPs emerged en masse and were scooped up by thousands of hungry fans. The Harvest LP was still one year from release the new songs contained herein were (and still are) amazing, and the only bone Neil and the suits threw us that year was the 4-Way Street LP, as fine and LP as it was. If you were a Neil/CSNY fan in the early 70s, you owned this LP in one of its configurations. There was “I’m Happy Y’All Came Down” on Rubber Dubber with its black gatefold cover ready for rolling, a rare Rubber Dubber version with a rubber stamped cover, the TMOQ version upon which they squeeze the entire show on two sides of colored vinyl, the double Young Man’s Fancy on Zerocks and abridged versions like the Live on Sugar Mountain LP. Besides the songs and wonderful performance, highlights include the unique snippet of “You and Me” that prefaces “I Am a Child,” and the response to the request for the song “Sea of Madness,” that prompts a Neil anti-bootlegging rap: “Wooden Nickel? Never heard of it. That’s a capitalist ripoff.” Ramblin’ Jack Elliot opened this show, but no recordings of his set exist. “Jerry Rigged” says that the original reel to reel master tape is long gone. All that remains are the LPs.”

Peace Trail features all new songs that Young wrote since the release of his album EARTH, this past June. This new album is primarily acoustic and reflects an intimate, sparse approach to each of the ten songs within: “Neil Young matches the fire in his belly to the poetry from his pen for one of the most gripping outings of his long career. This riveting collection, a spare acoustic-electric hybrid, seethes with righteous indignation over a plethora of social and political injustices, but also soothes with deeply felt empathy for those on the receiving end of iniquity." -- Los Angeles Times / Randy Lewis Peace Trail was recorded at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-la Studios and features Young on vocals and guitar, Jim Keltner on drums, and Paul Bushnell on bass. It was produced by Young and John Hanlon, mixed by John Hanlon. Most recently Young previewed five songs from the album during his performances during the Desert Trip Festival, in Indio, CA. last week which both Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly summed up as simply “explosive.” “Neil slashed and bashed at his guitar, the sound intense and nearly out of control.” – Rolling Stone The Los Angeles Times called Young’s performance “intensely powerful,” “furious” and concluded, “combining passion, energy and stinging content, Young served up a deeply rewarding performance.”

Neil Young will release a new album, entitled EARTH, on June 17th via Reprise Records. The album features performances of songs from a range of Young's albums, including last year's The Monsanto Years, 1990's Ragged Glory, and 1970's After the Gold Rush. The audio was captured during Young's 2015 tour with The Promise of the Real, fronted by Lukas Nelson (vocals/guitar) and Micah Nelson (guitar, vocals) - Willie Nelson's sons. The tour included Young performing solo and with the band for a full electric show. A new take on some of Young's most beloved songs, EARTH features the live recordings, along with added musical overdubs, as well as sounds of the earth, such as city sounds like car horns, sounds of insects, and animal sounds from bears, birds, crickets, bees, horses, cows - creating a very strange, yet beautiful atmosphere. "Ninety-eight uninterrupted minutes long, EARTH flows as a collection of 13 songs from throughout my life, songs I have written about living here on our planet together," says Young. "Our animal kingdom is well represented in the audience as well, and the animals, insects, birds, and mammals actually take over the performances of the songs at times."

Neil Young's significantly higher fidelity follow-up to A Letter Home is called Storytone, and it's out in November 4 via Reprise. (Pre viously, the album was titled Storeytone, but the first "e" has been dropped.) After sharing his orchestral, full band, and acoustic versions of the pro-environment song "Who's Gonna Stand Up?", he's shared more details about the album. Really, it's two albums: There's a solo version and a "standard" version, which was recorded with a 92-piece orchestra and choir. The regular CD comes with the standard version, while a deluxe edition includes both the standard and solo versions. The vinyl contains both solo and standard versions, and will be out December 16. (Of course, the album will also be available via Pono, Young's crowd-sourced music player.) The album was produced by Young and Niko Bolas under their Volume Dealers moniker. The orchestra was arranged and conducted by Michael Bearden and Chris Walden. One of Neil Young's recent records, 2009's Fork In The Road, contains nothing but rambling songs about his beloved electric car. Young has generated stacks of live albums — one of which, 1991's Arc, consists of exactly 35 minutes' worth of feedback and noise. Whether he's recording front-porch ballads, anthemic rock, early archival tapes, scathing protest music or even a rock opera, Young has become one of the most uncompromising, unpredictable, unbound and, at times, unearthly brilliant living musicians. Storytone, then, is exactly the sort of odd detour that fits neatly into Young's catalog: He recorded all of its 10 songs with either a 92-piece orchestra or an elaborate big band (not to mention the occasional choir), for a sound that couldn't be farther from the raggedness exemplified in his acoustic and electric recordings alike. Coming from a singer who derives so much of his power from the nervy, earnest brittleness of his voice, these arrangements sacrifice intimacy in the name of beauty, in ways that don't always suit the compositions at their core. Take "Who's Gonna Stand Up," Storytone's first single. A blunt-force environmentalist protest song — "End fracking now," Young demands at one point — it needs a leavening agent rather than the weight of portentous orchestration. But, as if to demonstrate that point, Young smartly includes two versions of every song on Storytone, one with a lavish arrangement and one with a far sparer acoustic sound. In "Who's Gonna Stand Up," the contrast is as sharp as the difference between a heartfelt letter to the editor and the sermon on the mount. Elsewhere, the songs work both ways: "I Want To Drive My Car," for example, has a bluesy stomp as its backbone, and works equally well as a quietly barren confession and a more full-blooded rock track. When Young explores quieter romantic themes during tiny love songs late in Storytone — don't miss the beautiful pairing of "I'm Glad I Found You" and "When I Watch You Sleeping" on both versions — the songwriting is strong enough, and the sentiment powerful enough, to support any arrangement.

Neil Young has released a brand new studio recording titled, “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?,” via NeilYoung.com. The new song is featured on Young’s upcoming album, STOREYTONE, which will be released this November. Details to be revealed soon. The song was originally performed at a Crazy Horse show in the U.K. this summer and more recently part of Young’s solo acoustic set at Farm Aid this past Sept 13th, at Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh North Carolina. The audience did indeed stand up and sing along in unison in support of the song’s plea to end our dependence of fossil fuels and realize our responsibility to protect our earth’s fragile eco systems to ensure the quality of life for future generations. To learn more visit: Young also recorded the track backed by a 92-piece symphony and choir. Live, orchestral and solo acoustic versions of “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?” are all available via NeilYoung.com.

A Letter Home is the thirty-fourth studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young. It was released on April 19, 2014 on Record Store Day by Third Man Records. The entire album, which consists of covers of classic songs by artists Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Gordon Lightfoot and others, was recorded in a refurbished 1947 Voice-o-Graph vinyl recording booth at Jack White's Third Man Records recording studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Of this method, White said, "we were obfuscating beauty on purpose to get to a different place, a different mood."
