This game is like one step forward and one step backward.

The gameplay is clearly better, with sprinting, attack chains and arena transitions. The presentation is probably the best in the series, as on top of the martial arts and surrealism of the previous entries it adds apocalyptic and urban imagery. Also probably best music in the series.

But I think there are fewer environments, which makes the game feel repetitive. And the difficulty is arguably even worse than the previous game due to the smaller amount of credits. The character roster, which everybody seems to hate, isn't that bad imo, but it definitely feels smaller than it should. Don't get why they had to throw away basically already thought-through and tested characters, when most of the gameplay is basically the same.

And of course the Ultimate edition later made the original version obsolete.
