Great Happiness (2020)

I rarely see modern Chinese movies that remind me of the classics anymore. This one did. It takes a long time to blossom, but then you start seeing repeating patterns. Radio blaring about stock markets over the footage of broken people sharing laughs and sorrows. Everything is bought and sold. Food is poison. This really encapsulates capitalist civilization. The great happiness is when you have money. And somehow it manages to stay hilarious throughout. One thing I don't understand is why Chinese women dye their hair. Isn't black the best color?
