Chime (2024)

Similar to an idea I had in 2017. The last script I wrote was based on another one of my ideas from around that time. Simultaneously I developed a tinnitus in my right ear and other symptoms suggesting a eustachian tube dysfunction. When things went quiet in this film, for me it was just sounds getting replaced with another sound. I was sorting through my old notes yesterday and came across this idea. I thought about whether I should write it, since the last script worked out so well. This seems like a sign that I should. Also, I've been meaning to re-delve into Kiyoshi Kurosawa's filmography full-force. Rewatching Barren Illusion tonight convinced me of doing that, but this was like a confirmation. I felt like the young me again. This is a convergence of various motifs throughout many of his movies. Perhaps a chance for me to turn my life around. Restart from a checkpoint. Coincidentally kinda what my last script was about.
