a review of 进化岛

I didn't want to rate it so low because it's a well-made film, but I'm so disgusted and I'm probably gonna have to carry this memory for the rest of my life. Question is: at which point does showing abuse and brutality towards children become unnecessary and sick and twisted? Idk, but this movie in a lot of ways feels like a rehash of Innocence, which I loved so much, except Innocence operated through innuendos and symbolism. This one would rather show you the disturbing than imply it. By the middle of the movie it becomes obvious what's going on, but I still fail to see why's going on.
