The title ‘DRYSTONE’ appears at the top, with the subtitle ‘A LIFE REBUILT’ arranged across the stone shapes, and the author’s name at the bottom. The cover is set against a mustard-yellow background.

finished reading Legends & Lattes
That was fantastic. Warm and cozy, with just enough action to remind you this is a fantasy story. I appreciate how it manages to incorporate modern-world ideas without making them feel so out-of-place. A new favourite book.

Illustrated eBook cover for sale. Depicts a red dragon with green horns and eyes geaming in cold sunlight with its wing over an elf-man. Sunlight shows the patterns of its wing, and reflects on its curved horns, neck spikes, and long claws.

The elf man is pale, and has white, slightly curled short hair resting on his forehead and temples. The hair in a long braid that snakes down his shoulder to his exposed peck. The braid is tied with a silky white ribbon and it turns from white to pale red and finally turns entirely black at the end. His eyes are red, and his pointed ear is red and sunlight makes it look luminecent.
He is wearing green, buttoned trousers and nothing else. They are resting low on his hips. His abs are visible, as he holds the head of his dragon companion. He has tattoos all over his arms, around his navel, neck, decolte, and ear. He also has scars on his side, arm, and chest if you look closely. They have long since healed.

The background is of cold mountain ranges disappearing into a fog. The light is cold, and unyelding.

The yellow text overlays say:
Two hiisikoloART signatures, hiisikoloART watermarks, "author name" and "very cool title" on bold text. No AI label, illustrated typography! 100% human made original art!

My overall impression of "The Last Philosopher" was not what I had expected it to be. As previously mentioned, Fantasy is not my go-to genre. So, going into this story, I was not entirely sure what to expect. Was this story going to be as painfully slow as what "The Hobbit" was? Or was this one of those rare times where I actually found myself enjoying a story of the Fantasy genre? I even enjoyed looking at the pictures that were added to each chapter.

"The Last Philosopher" is a story I would recommend to other readers on here to go read and share with their friends, relatives, frenemies, or anyone that could use a good read. Even if you are like me and have a specific genre you are drawn to, I would recommend you give "The Last Philosopher" a try. I found myself to be progressively more interested as the chapters continued. East really does do well with descriptions of chapters without there being much dialogue included.

I'm so tired. People, I am not interested in reading *blogs* generated with claude, gemini or chatgpt. No, not even ones proofread by AI. Do it yourself. I do not wish to even accidentally click on "one-shotted" dummy projects. Don't show me your AI-generated analysis of anything. Above all, I do not wish to see images/artwork someone prompt created.

I value real content, with all its good and bad quirks, from actual human beings.

Somebody please normalize auto-tagging of AI generated content across all formats - text, images and code so I can blanket ban them from my personal computer.

This is a plead for help I never thought I'll have to make.

Okay Mastodon, do your thing!

I'm looking for recommendations for audiobooks 😁

Preferably simple enough that I can keep up while doing other stuff at the same time, but not so simple that I get bored,

The last series was Skullduggery Pleasant, if that helps.

It's got beavers, snow, surf, video games, coding, data entry, literary references, masks, vaccines and a race to the airport!

It's total FREE! And I'll even mail anyone a copy on request (see about).

"When a comm builds atop a fault line, do you blame its walls when they inevitably crush the people inside? No; you blame whoever was stupid enough to think they could defy the laws of nature forever. Well, some worlds are built on a fault line of pain, held up by nightmares. Don’t lament when those worlds fall. Rage that they were built doomed in the first place."

— N. K. Jemisin: The Stone Sky

"Built on a fault line of pain, held up by nightmares" could be the historical footnote for this era of capitalist imperialism. Could also be the official tagline for the USA.

#OTD in 1752 Frances Burney was born. She "was a novelist, diarist and playwright. In all, she wrote four novels, eight plays, one biography and twenty-five volumes of journals and letters. She has gained critical respect in her own right, but she foreshadowed such novelists of manners with a satirical bent as Jane Austen and William Makepeace Thackeray."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Burney

Burney at PG:

Painting of Frances Burney by her cousin Edward Francis Burney. She is shown from the waist up. She has light brown hair which is covered by a huge puffy tan hat. It has a big bow and ruffled lace on top. Her dress is white with a pink bow at her chest. A dark black shawl covers her shoulders and arms, and she wear dark gloves.

After nearly doubling my 2025 reading goal of 40 books, I decided not to set a goal for 2026 as far as a number of books or pages. I'd rather focus on quality (or at least enjoyment) over quantity.

That being said, I am going to try to read every day and to finish at least one non-fiction book per month. You know, to grow or whatever.

Read so far in 2026, as of March 1st:
22 books totaling 10,526 pages

Average time to finish: 5 days
