Golden hour spotlight on a juvenile Green Heron scanning the shallows from a fallen branch. The camouflage in the brush is top tier.

Here's a photo I took of a Green Heron looking for their lunch. I took the photo at the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades National Park.

A close-up photo of a green heron. The heron is facing to the right, you only see their neck, nearly fully extended. Their beak is between two dry tan colored reeds. Their neck is a reddish-brown color, their head is a dark blue-green color. Their eye is orange around the outside, but mostly fades to yellow, with a big black pupil in the center. There is a yellow stripe of color on the beak directly in front of their eye. The top of their beak is dark grey, with light grey highlights. The bottom of their beak is yellow.

Below their head is water, with more reeds underwater. In the bottom left of the photo is the bird's very yellow and wrinkly foot.
