English: The image is a black-and-white photograph of a mountainous landscape. The central subject is a small, dark lake or pond nestled in a valley surrounded by rugged, rocky hills. The terrain is uneven, with sparse vegetation covering the slopes. Natural sunlight casts shadows that enhance the texture of the rocks and vegetation. The composition is framed by a tree branch in the foreground on the right, adding depth to the scene. The monochromatic style deliberately emphasizes contrast and texture over color, underscoring the rugged, austere beauty of the high-alpine landscape — matching the elevation of roughly 2,000 meters where the photo was taken.

We landed in Crete on Tuesday.
As we’d had to set off in the middle of the night to catch our flight from Düsseldorf, our first order of business was to explore the hotel and the immediate surroundings, as well as do some initial shopping for essentials.

On Wednesday, we set off – in search of beautiful views.

Right at the very first spot, we had the chance to capture three different scenes.
