The ultimate shadow of the savanna. 🖤🐾
An incredible encounter with a melanistic (black) serval crouching quietly in the dry grass during a night drive. Spotting a wild cat like this in the dark is special enough, but seeing a rare melanistic individual is an unforgettable highlight.

Caught in the spotlight at the water’s edge. 🌙🐾

A spotted hyena pausing mid-stride along the bank after dark, its rounded ears perked up and eyes locked right on us.

Night patrol at the river's edge. 🌙🐾
Spotted hyenas are highly intelligent, highly adaptable apex predators and scavengers that do most of their active hunting and patrolling under the cover of night. Catching this individual pausing along the illuminated waterbank gives a fantastic look at their distinct sloping silhouette and keen attentiveness.
