'Typisch für meinen Wohnort / meine Heimat'

'Typical for my place of residence / my hometown'

"Els Gegants d'Olot"
[Olot, Girona, Catalonia, Spain]

#photography

The photograph shows a pair of giants – "Els Gegants d'Olot" – during a festive parade in the city of Olot. Both were created in the 19th century by two eminent artists, Miquel Blay and Celestí Devesa. Over the years, several minor modifications have been made to their appearance, and new materials have allowed them to be lighter, making it easier for the person carrying them to participate in the parade and dance. They are a typical and representative symbol of the city, which has a long history of mass-producing religious sculptures.

I still don't have a photograph of a serval that I'm satisfied with, which puts me in the happy position of needing to plan a future serval trip, but I do at least have a silly photo.

Very pleased that a Ph.D. student finishing-up her thesis has chosen to include one of my photos of Cwmorthin, in infrared, to help illustrate it.

The thesis is very much down my street, examining how the UNESCO World Heritage badge is redefining how the slate communities of north Wales are understood, largely pushing out significant cultural and social elements of those communities.

It will be very interesting to read when it's done.

A lake rendered dark on a sunny day in infrared light, whilst lili pads glow bright and somewhat transparent. The slate tips and mountains of Cwmorthin lie in the background and a house lies on the shore in the middle distance.

Dear #photography bubble, has someone any experiences with the new VILTROX 26mm F2.8 EVO FE? Preferably on a Sony APS-C, but of course any mount will do. The idea is to use the lens for urban/architecture and light portraits #viltrox #lens

🇬🇧 Monochrome, horizontal. An old facade of an old building where there was a door, number 10 of which remains on the lintel, blocked but still discernible. A wide and apparently old chute also partially covers it. A "Colic" tag, as a manuscript, was drawn on the chute.

🇫🇷 Monochrome, horizontale.

We were looking out for Dartford Warblers, but then this cheeky bird popped up. A little far away, but it sat still nicely.
