#FotoVorschlag - Protz und Prunk

Photo theme - ostentation and pomp

If I dress up for formal or black tie night on a cruise - and I don't always - then the Tuxedo comes out, the EU cufflinks come out, and even though I don't normally wear a watch at all, the Rolex comes out. The fake Rolex.

#Photography #Cruise #Rolex #Watch

We're looking down at an arm resting on the edge of a table with the carpet visible below. The table is a black granite top with flecks of gold in it reflecting some recessed spotlights above us to create some glows and sparkles on the surface. The carpet visible to the right is also black and gold with a straight geometric pattern of gold lines giving the sense of luxury. The arm is wearing a Tuxedo jacket showing off some of the white cuff of a shirt underneath. A gold cufflink with blue inset and small gold stars representing the EU flag just pokes out from the jacket sleeve. Also partly visible is the watch being worn on the wrist. It has a sense of understated luxury with tones of silver and gold in the metal case and strap picking up highlights from the lighting above us, and has a dark face.

Electoral posters on Alexanderplatz.
#Photography #StreetPhotography #Photographie #PhotographieDeRue #Elections #Politics #Alexanderplatz #Berlin

Photograph of a small police prefab building on a square, with the label "POLIZEI Wache am Alexanderzplatz" on its top. In front of the police building, a utility pole with three electoral posters attached on top of each other: the top one for the AFD, the middle one for Die Linke, the bottom one for the SPD. Centered in the photograph, the SPD poster depicts a bear breaking down a blue arrow with the label "Krach gegen nazis". To the left side of the utility pole, a person with black skin is walking away from the camera. Even more to the left near the edge of the image, a security camera is attached to the corner of the police building. In the background, further away, scaffoldings cover large buildings destined for habitation or offices.

Sunrise swim. #NewBrighton #Seascape #Photography

Sunrise over a lake from a low angle. The reflection of the sun is stretched like a line splitting the lake in half. In the distance there are parked cars and a figure leaning on railings.

Precolumbiaans beeld in het museum voor antropologie [tegenwoordig volkenkundig museum] in Mexico-Stad, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

#EdvanderElsken #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-298-4-3

The image depicts a monochromatic photograph featuring what appears to be a human skull with crossed bones. The skull is centered against a stark black background, which accentuates its features and creates a somber or eerie atmosphere. The focus of the composition is on the skull's expressive eyes that are wide open in an almost cartoonish manner, giving it a haunting character. Below the head, skeletal limbs can be seen crossed at various angles across what appears to represent bones from different parts of the body.
The style of this photograph suggests its origins may lie within historical documentation or artistic expression dealing with themes related to mortality and death. The use of shadows around the skull adds depth and dimensionality, highlighting textures that might otherwise go unnoticed in a life-sized specimen. There is no additional context provided beyond what can be seen from the image itself.
The monochromatic palette contributes significantly to the overall mood by emphasizing contrasts between light and dark areas without any distractions or color influences. This approach directs all attention towards the subject's form, texture, and pose – elements that are typically of interest in studies concerning skeletal anatomy or artistic representations thereof.
