The image depicts a monochromatic photograph featuring what appears to be a human skull with crossed bones. The skull is centered against a stark black background, which accentuates its features and creates a somber or eerie atmosphere. The focus of the composition is on the skull's expressive eyes that are wide open in an almost cartoonish manner, giving it a haunting character. Below the head, skeletal limbs can be seen crossed at various angles across what appears to represent bones from different parts of the body.
The style of this photograph suggests its origins may lie within historical documentation or artistic expression dealing with themes related to mortality and death. The use of shadows around the skull adds depth and dimensionality, highlighting textures that might otherwise go unnoticed in a life-sized specimen. There is no additional context provided beyond what can be seen from the image itself.
The monochromatic palette contributes significantly to the overall mood by emphasizing contrasts between light and dark areas without any distractions or color influences. This approach directs all attention towards the subject's form, texture, and pose – elements that are typically of interest in studies concerning skeletal anatomy or artistic representations thereof.

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside,
I do like to be beside the sea 🌊

A morning 27km ride just for the fun of it, inland along part of the Leidsevaart, then back along the dunes through Noordwijk.

Very happy to be back on my old familiar cycling routes 🇳🇱👍

A view across sunny grass-covered dunes to the North Sea just south of Noordwijk in The Netherlands. The sky is blue with a few contrails. Probably hard to make out but there are some very large ships on the to the left and hundreds of wind turbines far out to see along the whole horizon.

A monochrome photograph of a sturdy historic stone masonry building beneath a pitched corrugated iron roof with a single chimney stack. The textured stone facade features two arched windows secured with dark iron grilles, with a closed archway detail in the centre. In the foreground, a rustic, weathered timber post and rail fence runs across the grass.

Behind the Iron Gate.

Morgan Cemetery has its origins in the late 19th century river trade era, and its early history is unusually dramatic. The cemetery was established in 1889, later coming under council control.

One of the most well known stories is the identity of the cemetery’s first interment:

A Royal Navy surveyor named Harvey reportedly speculated while helping prepare the cemetery grounds about who would be the first person buried there.

The next day, he drowned in the Murray River and became the cemetery’s first burial, a story long repeated in local heritage accounts.
