Fucking around with an ND filter and lens zooming at Heron's Head Park, July 2024.

This is a one second exposure of a dirt path that lies between two inlets of water on the eastern edge of San Francisco. Handheld, f/14, ISO 100... the photo was taken while twisting the lens from 18 to 27mm while the shutter was open.

The results is more painting-ish than it is photography and I keep changing my mind about it... so this has sat in my Lightroom catalog for more than 2 years.

A view from the end of a path at a nature preserve on the edge of San Francisco Bay. The view looks west, towards the city. Everything is blurred / smeared... and very heavily vignetted. There are blue skies above, oatmeal-colored ground below, and a thin line of trees on the horizon in the distance.

This looks like I made this while watching an instructional learn-to-paint show on TV while only owning a 3 inch wide wall brush bought at Home Depot. Oy.

Clouds on fire.

Unfortunately, there's no way a photo can convey the atmosphere. If you squint your eyes, you can see the pillar of light rising from the sun. So pretty.
