California singer/songwriter Jessica Pratt released her great self-titled debut in 2012 via White Fence's Birth Records imprint. On January 27, she'll release her new one, On Your Own Love Again, via Drag City. She recorded the LP at home over the past two years. It was mixed in collaboration with Will Canzoneri.

Stéphanie Sokolinski better known by her stage name Soko (sometimes stylized as SoKo) is a French singer. Her debut album is due to be released in February 2012 following the singles ‘I Thought I Was An Alien’ and ‘First Love Never Die.’ Nylon Interview: With your focus less on movies these days, what other projects have been keeping you busy? [My debut album] I Thought I Was An Alien is actually going to be released in the US on June 11, and then I'm finishing a new record in LA right now. It's called My Dreams Dictate My Reality, and I hope it's going to come out really soon. Since you're already working on your second album, is it weird to be promoting your first album? Oh yeah, I've totally moved on [laughs]. It's really weird, actually, because I feel like this first record was so personal and emotional and very dark and very sad, and it was very hard for me to perform it. I love playing shows more than anything in the world, but it had to be a very quiet audience and in very intimate venues; I couldn't play an intimate set singing about my father's death in front of drunk people. I'd have panic attacks, like, "I can't do this!" [The new album] is way less acoustic, it's super dream popish and some are almost post-punk.

Bedouine, a gallicized riff on bedouin, the nomad, the wanderer. Anyone can assume such a name, but Azniv Korkejian has an experience of what it means, the type of ground it covers. Her development was shaped by political landscapes and family opportunities, her adult life patterned by paths of her own. Born in Aleppo, Syria to Armenian parents, Korkejian spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia, moving to America when her family won a Green Card lottery. They settled in Boston, then Houston, but she split for L.A. as soon as she could. A casual offer to stay on a horse farm took her to the rolling hills of Lexington, Kentucky, followed by a year in Austin, and a trip east to Savannah for a degree in sound design. Returning to L.A., she discovered a close-knit community of musicians in Echo Park that started to feel like home.

Katie Crutchfield, aka Waxahatchee, will release her third LP Ivy Tripp on April 7 via her new home Merge (Wichita will oversee its international release). It follows 2013's Cerulean Salt. Crutchfield produced the album with Kyle Gilbride and Keith Spencer (also of Crutchfield's sister Allison's band Swearin'), who also play on the album. The album's title is “really just a term I made up for directionless-ness, specifically of the 20-something, 30-something, 40-something of today, lacking regard for the complaisant life path of our parents and grandparents," Crutchfield said in a press release. "I have thought of it like this: Cerulean Salt is a solid and Ivy Tripp is a gas.” She added: My life has changed a lot in the last two years, and it’s been hard for me to process my feelings other than by writing songs. I think a running theme [of Ivy Tripp] is steadying yourself on shaky ground and reminding yourself that you have control in situations that seem overwhelming, or just being cognizant in moments of deep confusion or sadness, and learning to really feel emotions and to grow from that... I heard someone say that you have to be the change you want to see. I just want to be the kind of musician I want to see in the world. I want to present myself in a way that reflects that.
