The omnivorous Japanese band’s Sub Pop debut exudes a newfound sense of serenity, even as they remain committed to exuberant self-love.

Cruising with Ruben & the Jets is the fourth album by the Mothers of Invention, and fifth overall by Frank Zappa, released under the alias Ruben and the Jets. Released on December 2, 1968 on Bizarre and Verve Records with distribution by MGM Records, it is a concept album, influenced by 1950s doo-wop and rock and roll. The album's concept deals with a fictitious Chicano doo-wop band called Ruben & the Jets, represented in the cover illustration by Cal Schenkel, which depicts the Mothers of Invention as anthropomorphic dogs. It was conceived as part of a project called No Commercial Potential, which produced three other albums: Lumpy Gravy, We're Only in It for the Money and Uncle Meat. The album and its singles received some radio success, due to its doo-wop sound. Subsequently, the name Ruben and the Jets continued with a different lineup, led by musician Rubén Guevara Jr., who recorded the albums For Real! (1973) and Con Safos (1974). Zappa produced the former album.

King Krule's (formerly Zoo Kid) second release brings with it, an expansion of vision, both musically and thematically. The connective tissue between these five tracks is still Marshall’s stark, direct lyrics, but over the span of the self-titled EP, there is an arresting sonic progression, as his songs open up to become a loose knit meditation and renewal of hope in the face of desperation. Shades of The Streets’ plainspoken and observant ramble dance with the heart on sleeve confessions of Billy Bragg. Archy’s influences are a patchwork for his voice to lay in, woven from several generations music as divergent as the 80s romantics, jazz, no wave and dub. The first vocal track 'Bleak Bake', for instance, opens with levitating keyboards and Marshall clearing his throat, before sampled strings and 808 drum 'pooms' swoon in and he sighs. 'The Noose of Jah City' drives the knife in deeper -some of his most intoxicating incantations to date- with Marshall singing of being “suffocated in concrete” over a lushly upholstered backdrop of chiming guitars and shuffling sampled beats. While in the gorgeous 'Portrait in Black and Blue' he unleashes a bounding piece of classic croon. But even though the subject matter may at times be harrowing, the songs themselves are never anything less than exquisitely crafted, possessed of an almost spectral beauty, as epitomised in the shimmering instrumental intro “363N63”. Taken as a whole, the “King Krule” EP is the sound of a young man growing up and attempting to grapple with the realities of the world he inhabits, and a fascinating, brutal journey it is too.

终极发烧天碟《云钟》 享誉全球的著名作曲家兼制作人何训田，1983年创立了任意创作法，以自己的音乐理论来结构音乐，缔造出完全自由和田成的旋律境界。 1994年由何训田与朱哲琴共同打造的发烧天碟《阿姐鼓》，在国际唱片史上留下了相当华彩的一笔，在全球五十多个国家创下了超过两百万的销售佳绩。 公元2002年，何训田获邀为杭州雷锋塔的重建创作音乐，万众瞩目中，何训田再度携手朱哲琴，以传诵千古的佛教《云钟》心经为主题，随缘挥洒出了这一张最新力作——《云钟》。在这张全新的发烧音乐作品中，何训田单纯地从音乐出发，器乐为经，人声为纬，在心耳间织起美丽的锦绸。语意深邃的260个字，随他魔幻般的旋律跌宕起伏，在朱哲琴温柔的声波河流中涌出难得的惑人力量。《云钟》是大师何训田沉寂了六年之后，后积博发创作出来的作品，整张专辑音乐大气而从容，犹如清风拂面一样，将天人合一的境界感性地呈现在聆听者面前。何训田-波罗密多 2002年，重建后的雷峰塔又屹立于杭州西子湖畔，以《阿姐鼓》享誉世界乐坛的何训田的音乐之树也随缘开花，沉寂了六年之后再次出辑———《云钟》（海外发行名为《波罗密多》）。为了庆祝雷锋塔重建而举行的“雷峰夕照”音乐大典，以何训田为总导演的主创人员前期制作长达一年，音乐以每天几十秒为进度。演出以雷峰塔为背景，场面蔚为壮观。佛教《般若波罗密多心经》的260个字语意深邃，何训田只是单纯地以器乐为经、人声为纬，在心耳间织起美丽的锦绸，聆听者的心绪随着撼人心魄的声波魔幻的旋律而跌宕起伏。 《云钟》曲目包括：序曲《云钟》，彷佛由缥缈云雾间传来，玎琮风铃伴随透明人声悠悠作响，一派云淡风清。曲二，女声反复吟唱“般若波罗密多”六字，清美而空灵。曲三，《阿耨多罗三藐三菩提》由朱哲琴友情献唱，这次她展现的是平和、自在的歌声。曲四《琵琶行》，由九九八十一把琵琶交叠而成，带领听者进入时间的甬道，敦煌千古壁画上腾飞的伎乐幽然再现。曲五《群僧》，作为曲六《般若心经》的引子，群僧从神秘不可知的地方由远至近。曲六《般若心经》打破了一般歌词的韵脚规则，为心经以朗朗上口的旋律演唱开了一扇方便之门，清新可喜的节奏与温柔人声引导着一字一句的进行，散发着敦慈的美妙能量。曲七《尘鼓》，层次丰富的打击乐，以鲜活律动架构出点、线、面的均衡节奏，主次交替更迭，呈现人间众生相。曲八《白蛇舞》，以虚无氛围表现“空”的意象，运用现代音乐手法表现白蛇的出离与顿悟后的自由。曲九《春歌》，“春有百花秋有月，夏有凉风冬有雪；若无闲事挂心头，便是人间好时节。”这是禅宗《无门禅师》的一首诗偈，述说了音乐家内心想望的自由心灵，同时扣合了心经所传达的“观自在”，采自江南民谣曲调的《春歌》，以高达八百余人次的大合唱呈现人间荣景，和谐歌声由远而近，有着雨过天晴后的清新透亮与盎然生机。曲十《千江月》，“千江有水千江月，万里无云万里天。”生命转折后的破茧而出，正是此曲所表现的境界，山林深处传来的木鱼声开启序幕，大鼓接续而出，由缓而急，霎然停于高峰处，气势磅礴的百人禅诗大合唱、钟声伴随的诵经声，逐渐由近而远。悠远笛音吹起贯穿全辑的主旋律，于空灵气韵中乘风而去。 从音乐的灵性微光中走来，何训田远在制作《阿姐鼓》之前、在无数次的行旅中、在对生活的反刍里，“天人合一”的理念早已深植心中。他的悲悯情怀深藏于音乐之中。在《云钟》里，何训田的“波罗密多”音乐语汇由繁华步入纯粹，横跨聆听者的心灵时空，流露出更多的自在、随兴与智慧。

Planet Mu will release Dark Energy, Jlin's debut full-length album, on March 26th. The Gary, Indiana-based producer first appeared on Planet Mu's Bangs and Work Vol. 2 in 2011, contributing two singles—"Erotic Heat" and "Asylum"—to the compilation. She will return to the label in March with an 11-track album, which is the latest in a series of footwork LPs that includes RP Boo, Traxman and Young Smoke. Dark Energy also features RVNG experimentalist Holly Herndon, who contributed to the track "Expand," which you can listen to below. "This album took my entire life to make," Jlin says. "Every moment in my life lead up to this album. My musical sense of expression comes from sadness, and anger. I can't create from a happy place. It seems pointless in my opinion."

St. Vincent is the moniker of singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Annie Clark and this is her debut full-length. She's opened for such diverse acts as Television, Jose Gonzalez, and Sufjan Stevens, and she's an inventive and versatile guitarist who has also performed with avant-garde composer Glenn Branca. On this record, she writes cinematic pop epics that feel at times like Paris in the 20s before all the fun ended. Or, conversely, an orchestra of pure modernity - a new American music, informed by jazz, gospel blues, Southern folk music, and classical composition but, in the end, an animal original unto itself. She's been compared to everyone from Bjork to Kate Bush to Jeff Buckley, and her beautiful voice melds perfectly with her intricate guitar work.

Bruno Jorge de Oliveira Pernadas (born 9 December 1982 / Lisbon) is a Portuguese Musician, Composer, Arranger and Producer. He has a degree in Music by the Superior School of Music of Lisbon (ESML) in Jazz department. He began his musical studies with classical guitar at the age of thirteen. Later, from 2003 to 2007, he attended the Lisbon Jazz School – “Hot Club de Portugal” where he current teaches guitar, ear training and combo.

The album is incredibly broad in range, refusing to be defined by one idea. From the uncompromising Yuk Foo to the infectious Beautifully Unconventional and Don’t Delete The Kisses, a dizzyingly romantic track which shows their progression and maturity as songwriters. Visions Of A Life is not an album of clichés. It is packed with surprises for those who think they know Wolf Alice. A darker, bolder, more diverse release from the biggest breakthrough independent band of recent years.
